There are many 'cashed up' baby boomers that would like to do the Camino in a little bit of comfort or style. Especially Australians.
Better to do it this way than not at all.
Our dollar is also shrinking, glad we did it last year.
Thanks Peregrina 2000. Unfortunately we have plans to do many other things - walking Hadrians Wall, Iceland, riding bikes down the Danube Path from Germany to Hungry amoungst many other items on the bucket list. Our time will run out before we finish our bucket list :(
We walked the Camino from St Jean to Santiago in 2015 (May to July). We stayed in private accommodation the whole way, booking ahead by 2-3 days and getting our luggage forwarded by Jacotrans.
We had a ball and everything exceeded our expectations.
We miss the Camino & if we were 20 years...
Thank you so much for your response.
I have been constantly worrying about these two dogs & am saddened that I could not do anything to help them.
Thank you for giving me the information about Progape Oursense. I have found a Facebook page for progape Oursense & have pleaded the dogs case on...
On Saturday, we walked from Samos to Sarria through a little village called Perros.
There were two dogs that badly need medical assistance & since I can only speak English, I don't know how to help them.
They were within a kilometre of each other. The first dog was sitting in a field on a corner...
I have been looking at the different lacing techniques as suggested, & will try replacing my boots. I will give my boots some time out for a couple of days & retry them.
I also wonder if I should perhaps drop to one pair of socks to allow more room in my boot, as with two pair, it is a snug...
Thanks heaps for your advice.
Sounds like it is definitely time for a change of foot ware. I have both new balance joggers with me & hiking sandals. I will swap to one of them for our walk tomorrow to Carrion de Los Condes
Thanks for your reply.
It is not under my heel. I have had plantar fasciitis & therefore know that pain. It is just on the surface of the skin, & seems to be similar to a callous.
I have been doing both calf & archilies stretches as shown by my Physio.
We are into day 20 of our Camino & currently in Fromista. I have very sore heels.
It is not from plantar fasciitis & I don't think it is tendinitis.
I have been wearing two pair of woollen socks since the start, but started to develop sores fromSan Juan onwards. My boots are well worn & are...
Calle laurel is fabulous for the experience of Pinchos, but a little expensive. Approx €2.50 each Pinchos & €1.20 for a glass of Tinto vino. Hard to find a meal before 8pm. The Moderno on Calle Carnicerias has a 3 course meal including a full bottle wine for €10. I recomend the Moderno.
We are currently in Pamplona.
My husband has injured his left knee. I remember reading some time ago about a very good knee, leg hospital along the way. I can't find that post.
Is anyone able to help with the name or town of the hospital
Thank you
I have a friend who has used this app. I would like to use it when we do our caminos, but am not able to find the name of it after extensive searching. Does anyone recognise it & able to help with its name. Thank you.
Perhaps I didn't word my previous post well.
But, maybe it is the younger generation on the forum as my generation seem to be unaware of the Camino. Or maybe I'm mixing in the wrong circle of friends? :P
Anyway, we might take Olivares advice. Truely looking forward to our first Camino...
Thanks very much for all your suggestions :) All taken on board to consider.
Might I add, most of our friends in Australia have not even heard of the Camino de Santiago nor any of the other Camino's. :(
They are in awe that we would even consider walking the eight hundred kilometres...
We are a group of four starting our first Camino in May 2014. We are aged 58 to 63 years of age.
We have been doing heaps of training, but due to our age we are hesitant to walk the Napolean route. I also have a heart problem. We will be carrying most of our gear on our backpacks. We want to...
