On the Portuguese right now in Redondela…..intending to do the Variant Espiritual North of Pontevedra from Tuesday. Had heard that there may be flooding problems on some of it, possibly the second day…..can anyone confirm ?? Thanks!!
I did this twice…..Vigo is a great town to visit and stay in. After arriving in O Porrino, I got a cab to Vigo (not expensive) and stayed over. I cabbed it back in the morning and walked from O Porrino to Redondela which is a really nice walk, not to be missed. Arriving in Redondela, I repeated...
Hello from Newfoundland. I enjoyed reading your story but at the same time I feel for you in your predicament……you are taking exactly the right actions and assuming exactly the right attitude. I have walked the route you have taken so far on the Portuguese and am returning to repeat in March...
While informative that I may well have lost the copyright and moral rights to one of the hundreds of photos I took while walking the Camino Portuguese by, like Nick, submitting it into a fun calendar competition, quite honestly I couldn’t care less. Sharing a favourite image from a moment on the...
Hello Nick, thanks for the link…..love these things but never win anything…..entered a wet and moody shot from just north of Ponte de Lima in March this year. Then I found this one from between Padron and Santiago last November which would have been more fun but I missed it and you only get one...
Town halls along the way in village and towns often have the very best ‘sellos’ and they are generally pleased and proud to oblige……don’t be reluctant to enter and ask!
Nothing to worry about at all….way over hyped. I walked it in March this year. Just one section of about 100 yds was very steep but that was on tarmac…..don’t worry about it at all…..a lovely walk! Buen Camino!

Hello from Newfoundland. I walked Rubiaes to Tui in late November. This is not a stage to missed.....even though for me it was supremely wet underfoot and sometimes overhead, I thought it was an outstanding walk. Winding lanes, beautiful scenery, not that much tarmac and good cafe/bar stops...
Although I’m walking the Camino Frances for the second time in May/June, I am going to be in Tui, just over the border in Galicia in a couple of weeks time on a separate trip. I have just two days there and plan to walk two stages of the Camino Portuguese just for the fun of it while I’m there...
I’m going to be in Lisbon with my wife in about 3 weeks for a couple of nights…..you guys look as though you know the city well…..any recos for restaurants or bars that we just have to visit? Any local gems? Thanks!!
Get out on the trails near where you live and train hard by walking long distance.....then your training will not only improve your Camino experience but in itself will shake off the pre-Camino blues because essentially you will have started already......training is a big and advisable part of...
