    Infected by the Camino bug

Hi Jacqueline! Where did you start from and which route did you take? There really is a camino bug that has infected most of us on this forum. Welcome.

    Hello, new here

You will enjoy the walk from Leon. There are so many things to see from there. Use Rome2Rio to find the different ways to get to Leon. That way you can put in the city you will be leaving from and how to get to Leon. Rome2Rio gives you plane, train and bus ideas. If you are concerned about...

    Hello, new here

That is so exciting for you! In 2015 I met a couple that were walking the Frances as their aisle and they got married on a beach in Finisterre. I happened to get the Finisterre at the same time as them and got to attend the wedding. (I don't think it was an official ceremony as it was another...

Should I stay or should I go now? Which way is the best in January?

I just looked up the weather forecast for the Augusta - sunny for the next 14 days with highs between 16 and 18 Celsius with lows usually around 7 lowest 3. If that is cold weather in Spain, you have nothing to worry about! Notes on the forum suggest that you would have to stay in pensions so...

Hey - First Time Camino ... last minute decision!

I took the bus last year. It was really easy. I think it is under 5 hours. Rome to Rio site is showing 4 hours 15 minutes. The bus lets you off at the airport, or in the city in Porto. And the Santiago bus station is just a short walk back along the camino from Santiago.

Hey - First Time Camino ... last minute decision!

Buen camino! If you have any questions, ask away. There are lots of people on the forum who have walked from Porto.

    Can‘t wait to go back

Last June I walked from Leon to Santiago. The weather was rainy almost every day and the number of pilgrims starting in Sarria was way down due to the weather. So we had rain, but no problem finding a place to sleep at night. We usually stayed in smaller places rather than the Brierley towns...

    I am a newbie

I can remember only one intersection between St Jean and Orisson where I wasn't sure which way to go. So I stopped and a homeowner came out and pointed me in the right direction! Almost every intersection has a yellow arrow, so you don't have to worry. There will be people ahead of you and...

    Porto

I just booked my flights. I will be arriving in Porto on June 3 and will start walking to Santiago on June 4. I want to walk up the coast as much as possible. I was not going to walk a camino this year, but I couldn't find anything else that I wanted to do more than walking. I guess I just...

    Hello

Welcome to the forum! I am also walking from Porto to Santiago this year - but I will be starting in June. Buen camino! Do you know what route you are walking?

New Pilgrim question about hiking over the Pyrnees (first leg of SJPDP)

What surprised me (coming from North America) was all the farms, sheep, cows and horses on this mountain. A lot of the walk over the mountain is on farm roads. When you leave the roads, the trail is steep, but there is no climbing up big rocks or anything like that. I agree with @trecile...

Pensionista Pilgrims Planning for May 2019 Camino

I took a look at one of his elevation pages. They do look very steep, but the page shows 18 km so the hills are squished to fit on the page. What is it that you don't like about hills? A lot of the hills on this section are walking beside roads. I don't remember anywhere that felt like you...

    New Pilgrim

Easy Jet flies direct from Santiago to Barcelona for about $100 US. They have flights showing the day before you leave Barcelona. - Sorry, Easy Jet flights are not direct. Vueling goes direct.

    All advice greatly received

You haven't said where you are from - to give us an idea of where it would be easy for you to start from. But I would suggest walking the Camino Frances because there are so many services available - you can send your backpack ahead if you have problems with carrying it, the albergues are often...

    4 month Training Program

Hi Kricket. @davebugg gave you lots of information! You don't mention where in Canada you are from. I live near Toronto and walked for months getting ready for my first camino. I practiced on the "hills" around my house and when I returned from the camino I realized that the roads I...
