lissie45, have a great time. Going slow and enjoying the sights and the people is not a bad way to go. Long flights are no fun but I have yet to convince the crew of the Enterprise to beam me directly to SJPdP. Not that there are not other great places to stay in SJPdP but my vote goes to the...
Hopefully starting in SJPdP the first week of April 2019. This will be my third time around and hopefully not my last. Did the John Muir Trail last year and off on the Colorado Trail soon but the Camino Frances is still my favorite. The scenery, the history and of course the cafe con leche are...
This past spring it was beautiful...cool mornings and not too hot during the day with few exceptions. Hope to start in early spring again in 2016. The only issue might be late snows en los Pirineos.
Hope to be back on the Camino starting in SJPP starting in April 2016. Originally thought the Camino in 2014 would be a one-shot deal. I did the Colorado Trail this past summer and it was amazing. With all the spectacular hikes there are in the US and the rest of the world the Camino still has...
That sounds wonderful...weather is a tad better than it currently is in SJPdP. I'm hoping it will clear enough to do the Napoleon route. Have a wonderful trip in May.
That is very good to hear. I was there the year the oil tanker spilled in San Juan and the bay was thick with oil. Is the water at the beach back to being crystal clear?
Heidi,
Part of the adventure is jumping into the unknown. Having been a long-distance backpacker for a very long time (old guy), there are still days on the trail when I wonder how the day will end. Who will you meet? What will you see? Will it ever stop raining? (Yes, rain always stops)...
Now that is amazing...I lived in Levittown for about 6 months in 1968...that was when the water at the beach was still crystal clear. I remember the Catano ferry.
There is a saying popular on the Appalachian Trail, "Hike your own hike." Keep to a pace you are comfortable with and I am sure you will make it. I won't start hiking until 10 April but will be sure to say hello if I see you.
Buen Camino and bonne chance!
Keith, have a great trip. Hope to run into you at some point. I've got a grey Osprey and will be carrying Black Diamond hiking poles. I could add that I have a gray beard but I suspect that will not help much either...lots of grey beards out there from what I can tell.
