No, but I lived in Levittown Lakes near Catano in the 70's -- wow! A blast from the past!
I worked (at 17 years of age) as a go-go dancer in a place called "The Big Bamboo" on Old San Juan Bay.
I'd take the Catano Ferry across each day to and from work.
During the day, I'd get conch shells from the factory, clean them up, and sell them to tourists on the beach.

I have fond memories of those carefree hippy days!

Thanks for the memories! :p

I don't think the Big Bamboo is still here, but I live in a house in Old San Juan (Calle Sol) that used to be a bar and pool house in the late 60's -- La Meseta -- on the Callejon del Hospital.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Now that is amazing...I lived in Levittown for about 6 months in 1968...that was when the water at the beach was still crystal clear. I remember the Catano ferry.

That is very good to hear. I was there the year the oil tanker spilled in San Juan and the bay was thick with oil. Is the water at the beach back to being crystal clear?

I lived in Rio Piedras for a few years. Still go back to visit friends every couple of years. Heading out of SJPDP on 4/27. Perhaps we will meet along the way. Buen Camino!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
I am leaving STJPdP May 2nd. Would love to hear from former or future pelegrinos on the island!

Will be starting in Ponferrada June 3 after spending June 2 gearing up for the walk. I love Puerto Rico. La Calle Sol es una de mis preferidas en El Viejo San Juan y El Convento es mi segundo hogar. Soy cayeyana, pero vivo en La Florida. Hope to meet boricuas en el camino :)
