    Venice to Finisterre

Are you Australian? Can you do that route in the 90 days visa free?

Planning to leave in just under a month - All help gratefully accepted

So you're from the wee little island? Isn't it kind of warm there? I'm visiting Spain this week. It was/is so cold I had to buy a hoodie. The local girls are still wearing coats. TO THE BEACH!. You can tell the home country of the people by how they're dressed. The further north the skimpier...

    New Pilgrim from Canada

If you book in advance the internal EU flights are not that expensive. The issues are things like baggage. The fact the discount airlines may use secondary airports. Does your schedule match up. Currently it seems October Santiago de Compostela to Paris with Vueling is €44 but it can be double...

    Water

I'd disagree that it doesn't matter. Your body will try and compensate. This can lead to injuries in strange places/ways. The same way your dominant hand will lead to a bigger/stronger arm carrying weight on the side will cause your body to compensate. Carry a shoulder bag on one side and you...

    Water

I wonder if when I used the word bag I should have used backpack? I meant like that. The hose comes out over the top. Water shouldn't travel up hill. No?

    Water

On my pack the hose exit is at the top of the pack. It would be impossible to mount the bladder with the hose on the bottom and still be long enough to exit the top hose opening of the pack. Both of my packs are like this. The hose comes out at shoulder level.

    Water

Seriously? If you don't suck on mine it doesn't move. If you mount it right the hose is at the top of the bag. I guess if you put pressure on it the water might flow  But it shouldn't travel up the hose on it's own.

Assuming your pack has a place for the bladder and hose then it's all fairly easy. They tend to have big filler spouts. Then the hose to suck on.

    Camera???

For those willing to live with the weight/cost I think all the Nikon add on grips take AA batteries. OTOH between the grip and camera body you can have 2 or 3 camera batteries (I don't mean the AA) . That's a lot of photos.

    Water- bladder sack vs. Nalgene

45litres?? Can't be. Maybe the whole backpack is 45litres? You don't need to fill a bladder full. The advantages of the bladders are you can sip /suck on it hands free. They tend to be weight balanced. How much do things like that matter? Kind of depends.

    Weight fanaticism

Please nobody shoot me but. Personally I see a certain negative spiral. People are told they need the lowest weight possible. So they pick a backpack that's light. Some times they pick good light packs. A few pick light weight packs not suited for long hikes. When they load up the pack with...

    Wifi in Aubergues??

If you're device can handle it you're likely best off getting a Spanish SIM card. Glancing at the Vodafone website they have an offer for about €15. 1GB of data. Plus 60min voice and SMS. For a month I'm guessing that would be enough for the average person. It's not like emails are that big.
