Oh, and it doesn't have to be SO expensive. If you do the classic pilgrimage, stripping down to the minimum and swearing off the luxury comforts, you can do it very cheaply indeed and still have a whale of a time!
You are going to feel SO much better once you just up and book that airline ticket.
You are obviously hearing the call. Why resist? What do you have to lose?
Jump.
You can also volunteer at the Pilgrim Office in Santiago de Compostela, filling in Compostelas for newly arrived pilgrims. Lots of people really enjoy that! Ask about that when you arrive there.
You are between waves, especially if you started off late today.
I am not in that neighborhood, I am in the middle of the meseta, and have seen at least 10 pilgrims today. No worries.
Poker isn't huge among native Spaniards -- the people in the bars are playing Mus or Brisca, usually, or dominos. Their pack of cards is different from "the norm," too. You can probably scare up a Poker game with fellow pilgrims, but be careful when playing in Moratinos... Jorge, the guy in...

Plenty of hardy pilgrims out there in winter, you will not be alone. We celebrated New Year´s Eve in Moratinos with NINE pilgrims, and tonight there are 15 at the hostal!
July is NOT the worst time to do the Frances. You´ll want to do your walking early in the day, but the days are long and the harvest is being cut just about then, so you will see lots of activity along the Way. Also, at least in the middle where I live, there are significantly fewer pilgrims on...
Jenscamino, I am in Moratinos, right in the middle of the Frances, just before Sahagun. You and any other pilgrim is welcome, not just for the holidays, either.
If you can cook, all the better! Let us know you're coming and we'll clean the place up a bit.
