    Newbie heading off in April!!

Hi Annie and welcome to the forum. You definitely won't be the only pilgrim on your flight out so keep and eye out and strike up acquaintance in the departure area/gate. Rest assured they will be as eager as you are to split the costs of a taxi but might be a little shy-so be brave and take...

Le Puy to Santiago by skateboard in June.

God bless you that'd be two of us in the nearest orthopaedic unit for sure and certain-but I appreciate the offer.

Le Puy to Santiago by skateboard in June.

…..Michael there were occasions when, if I'd seen one, I'd have seriously considered nicking it as a backpack trolley-keep it safe from old ladies you have been warned;).

    Epilogo Santiago to Fisterra

Oh that's a lovely route Sabs-and with a swim at the end and great seafood. Had one of the best lobsters I've ever eaten there with wonderful glass (or 4) of albarino……….

    From Belorado for two weeks

Loved Belorado such a genuine place with no air or graces about it and the people were friendly and welcoming. It's one of the many places I look forward to seeing again.

    Newbie from Northern Ireland

Hi Balian, A belated welcome-better late than never! If you're 'time poor' and/or with your family at the 'hands on' stage it's a great idea to take one of the shorter less traveled routes. I did a 'dry run' from SDC to Fisterra the year before I walked the CF and it really helped my...

Hi I am from Maine and planning to walk el camino in November from Santiago to Cape Finisterre

Four days will be brilliant you'll be able to soak up (literally as well as metaphorically if you get rain;)) the scenery and be able to go to bed a little later in the evenings.... and stay in bed a little later in the morning....perfect:).

Hi I am from Maine and planning to walk el camino in November from Santiago to Cape Finisterre

Go for it if November is anything like the October we're having then you may need sunscreen! It's a wonderful route check which albergues are open in November as some run from April to October. Even if some are shut there are cheap places to stay. I walked it over 3 days and spent 3 days...

    Reflections of a secular "pilgrim"

Hi Steve Moi a shrinking ? I think not! I also stated clearly what think ...but if needed I can 'unpack' that a bit more! (though on second thoughts perhaps we 'should take it outside' and PM if it's going to get a bit heated;)) In retrospect I should have also quoted from the leading...

    Reflections of a secular "pilgrim"

Whether one acknowledges it or not when one walks the CF one travels, in the broadest of terms, under the auspices of the Catholic church. That status of pilgrim on the Camino grants a protective mantle to each pilgrim from one end of the Spain to the other and we all benefit from hospitality...

    Full Camino

The only Alsatians I met were a French pilgrim couple and, though extroverts, they could hardly be called barking...... On the CF dogs aren't such an issue being mostly chained and/or snoozing in patches of sun. On other less travelled routes dogs doing their guarding job can sometimes be...

    Where to stay in Belorado

Re: Where to stay in Belorado Hi tyrrek is that the sort of B & B to the left of church of Santa Maria and the albergue? If not then there is another option I can't remember the name of it but some pilgrims stayed there and said it was 'reasonable' (but I know that one pilgrims reasonable is...

    New to the Forum

Be very careful of the Dogs at La Faba they are an extremely dangerous .... trip hazard as they seem to sleep all day snoozing away wherever they find a nice little patch of shelter/sun! But if they do wake up as pilgrim Thor walks past on his way up to O'Cebreiro please let us know or even...

    April 2013

And today on this his day our national saint sends us..........SNOW to walk in  thank you Patrick!. Maybe he's trying to toughen us up? I supposte he has a point the traditional old pilgrimage to Croagh Patrick used to be on the 17th of March with a barefoot ascent of the reek and an...

    First time -hello!

Hello and welcome sister pilgrim! I found that practically as far a Leon French was actually the most common '2nd language' spoken by locals on the Camino Frances and there are always a good number of French pilgrims en route. By the time you have walked/cycled to Leon you will have picked up...
