Margaret,
Your words of wisdom and kind, encouraging spirit have been a blessing for us pilgrims for lo, these many years. I think I can speak for many pilgrims when I say that we are so grateful and honored by your presence on this forum. More than once you have helped me through a difficult...
I joined the forum in spring 2012 to prepare for my first Camino that fall with my spouse after watching “The Way” which inspired so many Americans to make the journey. We walked the Frances from SJPP to Santiago and I was hooked. No phones nor apps so we took whatever lodgings we could. It was...
At age 55, the Camino Frances was my first in 2012 with my spouse. SJPP to Santiago from the US. We carried no electronics except a digital camera and music on headphones. Used the Brierly and tore pages out as we went to reduce weight. Communicated home via euro-fed albergue computers with keys...
....the Wise Pilgrim guide for CF from the store here on the forum. It will give you great insight into many details of the Way, including lodgings.
I would add that the Wise Pilgrim App is very helpful (and there are others) in that it can show you lodgings and allow you to book through...
Question: debating about leaving my Brierly behind and depending only in the Wise Pilgtrim app. What do you think?
Would you ever leave the Brierly at home and depend only on apps like Wise Pilgrim etc?
Hi Trecile
I changed my profile pic so you might recognize me...I would love to meet you. I now have a blue osprey pack, and often carry a trekking umbrella.
I am arriving May 7 at Biarritz taking the EB at 12:30 pm. If any others are coming in at that time, let's share but do get booked in advance. Hope to meet you RobertB, Gergor80 and Neville, at some point or other on the Way. Buen Camino!
I'm starting in SJPdP on May 8, God willing, taking the Valcarlos route this time. This is my third camino, my second on the CF, my first solo. I have a Camino Forum badge on a dark red pack.. That is how you might spot me.
Starting my third Camino solo on this day. Just made the decision final yesterday and booked my flight. Frances 2012, Portuguese 2017. Frances 2019 God willing.
Arrive St. Jean May 7 and start on Valcarlos May 8th. Joined this forum seven years ago almost to the day! Weird!!
Perhaps you can manage Leon to Santiago. Or walk Tui to Santiago and then on to Finisterre or Muxia as the Celts of old did. Many pilgrims seem to delight in the walk to Finisterre, which takes 4-5 more days from Santiago.
Thank you so much!
We have two weeks to travel the route, which feels so short compared to the 34 days it took to walk the CF.
I hope it will still feel like pilgrimage.
We walked the CF in Sept/October of 2012 and are ready to try our second camino, this time the Portuguese route from Porto- Santiago-Finisterre (?). We only have 14 days, so probably only make it to Santiago. Starting May 2 - 14, 2017.
Getting excited!
Alice and Stuart
Hey, Juan,
We may run into each other....we plan to depart from StJeanPdP on September 27, after flying on to Madrid on the 25th and taking one jet lag day in Pamplona.
Started our planning about the same time you did, and we feel almost ready.
Only one month out now...
Alice and Stuart...
Nice to know that DC will be represented at least twice in September on the Camino Frances.
We'll be coming up behind you on the 27th September, also from the DC area. We are setting aside
40 days too, the traditional sojourn time in the wilderness.
Buen Camino,
Alice
Hi, Jose,
I might be on the camino at the same time as you...We arrive September 25, Madrid, leave
September 26th from Pamplona to St. Jean, then the 27th (God willing) we begin the camino.
We have 45 days including travel and adjustment days. I am looking forward to walking in the cooler...
