Good day fellow pilgrims! I've managed to get five weeks off from work to start hiking the Camino Frances from mid-May to the end of June. Looking forward to reading through the adventures of those travelling before me.
Fantastic! I'm starting from SJPDP on May 11th. Maybe see you along the way.

Welcome to the forum, Bernhoff!
You will find all the advice you need here...and then some, to help make your experience a great one. You just may find yourself dreaming about another camino after you return home and step inside your front door!

I am starting in St.Jean Pied de Port on the 15th of May.Hopefully see you all along the way

Instead of a full day without walking I prefer to take one or two short days in a row.
Great Advice, my days off are in larger towns, ie: Burgos, Leon Pamplona, etc something to do (without a full day of walking). Also when I am reaching a day with a long or higher climb (ie O'Cebreiro) I will walk farther to be closer to the climb, which saves energy from starting in a location that requires a longer walk (hope this makes sense) (max distance is no more than 38km)

I am also trying for 11 May. I'm arriving on the 10th at 11pm in Biarritz and am looking in to how to get to SJPDP, leaving me a little time in the morning to explore SJPDP, and still making it to Orisson later on the 11th. It will be a busy day. :) Hope to see you along the way.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
You will meet up with Pilgrims that start their walk days earlier and days later, as rest days can change who's on the camino trail with you. My first camino I had a 2 day bike ride from Burgos to Leon, and then walked with new Pilgrims. This May I will walk the entire CF just for another experience. There is no wrong way to do it, its your Journey.

I think I'll do the same. I get in to Biarritz late on 10 May. Just trying to decide if I should take a taxi to St. Jean Pied de Port that night or catch the morning train. I'd like to explore SJPDP a little but think I can take in what I need over a couple hours and still make it to Orisson on the afternoon of the 11th... All packed and ready to go. :) Been training for a while. Looking forward to the mental part...

Do you have your reservation at Orisson? Hope to see you there!
You definitely don't have to get an early start from SJPDP if you are only walking to Orisson, as there's not a lot to do there. I aim to get there mid afternoon. You can spend a few hours in the morning enjoying a leisurely breakfast and looking around town. I plan to start walking around 11:00.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
I'm starting in SJPdP on May 8, God willing, taking the Valcarlos route this time. This is my third camino, my second on the CF, my first solo. I have a Camino Forum badge on a dark red pack.. That is how you might spot me.

Do you have your reservation at Orisson?

Welcome Bernhoff - you picked a great time of year for your Camino if you like lush green vegetation...even on the Meseta. I hope you already have your reservation booked for Orisson, it is a great experience and thus it is in high demand. If you don't have your reservation there is always a chance of cancelation by someone else. Perhaps you can check with them daily. Good luck and Buen Camino.

You'll be ahead of me, but I'll keep my eye out for you. :)

Hi, Ouroboros
I’m starting off from SJPDP on the 7th (next Tuesday!) and staying at Orisson that night so may see you in Roncesvalles. I’ll be checking all the bags!
