    Accessing Camino Passport in Irún

Get past the first week we shall be fine. We are doing lots of hill training for my 68 yr old knees. If all else fails I’m not too proud to make the days shorter or bus to next stop.

    Accessing Camino Passport in Irún

I agree that’s why we will spend two days in San Sebastián - rest and recuperate from flight and 25km walk from Irun.

    Accessing Camino Passport in Irún

Thank you for the reply. Yes we are forwarding our main luggage (suitcases) all the way to Santiago and carrying a backpack with us for the 38 days. As we are arriving from Australia the previous day we have a short window to forward our luggage. Getting our credentials in Irun is our preference...

    Accessing Camino Passport in Irún

Hi fellow Pellegrini’s, we arrive in Irun after 6.30pm in mid July and plan to start our walk early the next day. Can anyone tell me where I can get my compostela passport and if it’s still open after 6pm? We also plan to forward our main luggage to SdC from Irun. I’m concerned that Spanish...

    Accommodations on the Norte

Good advice. We are walking the Norte starting in Irún in mid July finishing in mid August. I have only booked accommodation in the main centres. I wanted some degree of spontaneity and flexibility in day kilometres. Based on your advice I may revise that plan.

    Monastery Accommodations

Hi, I read somewhere that an excellent monastery to stay at is San Salvador Monastery near the junction of Camino del Norte and the Primitivo, immediately after Casquita. Does anyone have any personal knowledge of this place? Its off the Norte and I understand may not always be open. Other...

    Accommodations on the Norte

I share your concern. We are walking in July and early August. Pre booked San Sebastián and Bilbao. Others could be difficult too. Beun Camino.

Buen Camino to you as well.

    Camino Norte

Very good insight. I shall look at the Oviedo option. I’ll be 69 on the walk and have learned to pace myself. Rocky steep parts out of Irun are fine. I have done many such walks in New Zealand and Australia.

Love the positiveness of your reply. Certainly shall enjoy it.

    Camino Norte

I shall investigate the planner. Locked in to start in Irun and whilst a tough start I too have heard of its coastal beauty.

    Camino Norte

Good advice re the donativos. As to 33 days, that’s a stretch for us. We are very experienced walkers and my wife has done the Frances however age catches up to all of us.

    Camino Norte

Hi in July this year my wife and I are planning to walk the Camino del Norte. Due to our travel schedule around Europe, we are limited to do it in 40 days. Is this possible? If not what parts of the camino can we bypass? My thinking is the town of Gijon. Second question relates to cash versus...
