New Forum Topic... Portable Clothes Wringer?

What are "pilgies?" I'm guessing they are clothes pins, which seems like it might work well.

New Forum Topic... Portable Clothes Wringer?

I couldn't find any posts about this topic on the forum (first time that's ever happened) so I thought I'd ask... It always seemed to me that wringing hand-washed clothes never works very well, and I wish I had a wringer available to squeeze out more water. My question for all the wise...

    Phone holders for hiking pole

I took a selfie stick apart, and connected the holder to my pole with black zip ties. The button to my selfie stick also easily popped off so I just held it separately. It worked like a charm. FWIW... I only used it a few times, but it added virtually no weight, so it was still worth it.

    Alltrails app

Does Wise Pilgrim support off-line (airplane mode) tracking? I used Map.me with downloaded maps from Gronze for my Le Puy and Camino Frances pilgrimage.

    Bring or Buy?

Since most US toothpaste tubes are over 3 ounces and cannot be carried through US security, I brought a small tube with me, then bought toothpaste when I got to France. FWIW... I really disliked the French toothpaste (which I think is the same in Spain). American toothpaste tastes much better...

    Shoe store Santiago

Amáncio about a 10 minute walk from the Cathedral. They have Hokas, Altras, etc. I bought a new pair of shoes there after finishing my camino last fall.

    Altus rain poncho weight

Only place I can find them online is Caminoteca, but their description says 2020 model. Did Altus go out of business? (I can't find a company web site anywhere.) And I can't seem to order anything from the Caminoteca web site. I'm guessing because I'm in the United States. The place I...

    Altus rain poncho weight

I have a large one and it weighs 7.1 ounces on my kitchen scale.

Things I'd bring, who cares about the weight

My luxury item that I'll be carrying... a mini-foam roller. 8.1 ounces. That's a pretty big item, but I've got some back and neck issues, and it helps me stretch.

    Fitness Wearables

I'm a big fan of having a tracker. I bought a Garmin Approach because I golf a lot and it's good at that (for example, it tells me how many yards to the green before each of my shots). Now I use it for walking and biking too. It's helpful during training to know how long I've walked and to...

    All Trails App

Thanks, but when I look on that site only two maps refer to "Podiensis" or "Le Puy", and when I downloaded them they were not the routes from Le Puy to SJPDP. I haven't tried Wikiloc yet. Everyone here seemed to mention maps.me, so I was focused on that app for right now.

    All Trails App

Hi. I'm new to maps.me. I've been searching all over for maps of the Le Puy route, but I can't seem to find anything that claims to be reasonably up to date. Any recommendations on where I look? Thanks in advance for help anyone can provide.

Just for Fun, Packing Light Tips

I didn't think my pack had those, but it does. Works like a charm. Thanks!

Just for Fun, Packing Light Tips

How did you carry it? I have a small roller I was planning on bringing with me in August, but I'm short on space within the backpack. Did you find a good way to carry it outside of the pack?

    Yet another sleeping bag question!

I'll be a little ahead of you, but maybe we'll cross paths. If it helps, I settled on the following... 1) A light weight bag liner. I presume I'll use this on warmer evenings when bedding isn't available. 2) A light weight hiking quilt. I got one that weighs 17 ounces. I presume this will...

    Yet another sleeping bag question!

Thanks everyone for all the help. I've decided to go with a camping quilt and liner. Quilts are expensive, but I found this company (https://ugqoutdoor.com/top-quilts/outlaw-hybrid-quilt/ ) that custom makes one for you. You choose the warm level, the style and the colors. Total price...

    Yet another sleeping bag question!

Thanks for the thread. I'm struggling with similar questions. I'm leaving from Le Puy August 16, and hope to make it to Finisterre/Muxia by November 1. - It will be hot in August and early September so carrying a blanket seems a little crazy to me but when we get into the October, I'm...

How many pairs of shoes did you go through?

I was thinking I'd wear one pair from Le Puy to SJPP and have another pre-worn-in pair waiting for me there. That may be overkill, but I'm thinking having a new pair along with new socks and such might be a nice treat after a month of hiking.
