My husband was walking with Lone Peaks, but he is now liking the Altra Provision shoes. He said they are a little more cushioned, very light and the tread is lasting longer. I am a Loan Peak devotee (which I wore on my Camino), so I can’t personally speak to the Provisions, but he likes them.
My Altra Lone Peaks took me the entire distance and still had tread when I finished. I did have my orthotics in them. I didn’t feel that I had any serious problems with feeling stones and rocks as I walked.
I will be walking at the same time with friends and I've concocted my own sleeping system very economically. I'm from the US, so got the liner on Amazon and the down throw at Costco. I cut it down to the size I wanted, then sewed the liner into the throw on the top and right side so it wouldn't...
Toe box very comparable to Lone Peaks, so shouldn’t be any issue there.
As I said in my original post, these shoes are quite different than Lone Peaks and Timps, in both material and design. Been reading that some people are complaining of heel slippage or heel rubbing. The heel base does feel...
I have not tried the Olympus, so can’t compare. Can only say the Mont Blanc is a very different material from the Lone Peak and Timp, very cushioned and extremely light. So far, so good for me!
And I still love Lone Peaks also!!
I will be walking the Camino Frances in September. I am a long time Altra customer and love their shoes, primarily Lone Peaks, but also their Timps. I had already decided on Altra Lone Peaks for the Camino.
However, Altra has recently begun selling a new shoe - the Mont Blanc. They call it the...
I also plan to wear Altra LonePeaks. I’m testing out their Timps right now, and while they have more cushion, the LonePeaks are still more comfortable. I will have to try the Olympus 4 shoe. I’ll be walking in September/October this year.
We will be walking the Francés in September and I know that for myself, I will need more than just a liner. So I bought a mulberry silk sleeping bag liner from Amazon and a lightweight down throw from Costco (online order only). I cut the throw down almost in half and then sewed it to my liner...
I'll be walking my first Camino in September also … the Frances. I have an Extra Small/Small Osprey Tempest 40. It is only 2.262 lbs. I am 5'2" and about 130 pounds. I went to REI and had it fitted for my size.
