Sleeping bag for Winter Camino.... help!

Hi Alan, I really appreciate your reply, especially since you are or were 'on the ground' - it's exactly what I wanted to hear as I weather can vary from year to year. Anyway, I'm one of those who must be running on reptilian blood, so .. when others are too hot, I'm often cold. It probably...

Sleeping bag for Winter Camino.... help!

Hi Karen, Thanks for your post. Makes me think I can manage with my existing bag and liner.. plus some woolies if it gets too bad! My bag is a "Highlander Voyager - Compact Light" - I think it was pretty cheap to be honest but hope it'll be ok. I will let you know when I get back. I was on...

Sleeping bag for Winter Camino.... help!

Hello, I plan on going across the meseta (starting in Burgos) approx Dec 29/30. I have a "Season 1-2, 150g/m2" sleeping bag that has a "Comfort Temperature 8 deg C" rating. My question is, given I may more than likely be staying in unheated albergues, and the outside temp may be as low as -4...

What Should We Not Take ?.... see draft packig list

This is exactly what happened to me. Pack didn't fit my body and ended up carrying all weight on my shoulders... Not much fun.

Equipment in Summer: sleeping bag vs. Sleep Sheet

No problems on that count with me either. In fact some of the blankets I did manage to find may have crawled off me in the middle of the night I believe I caught the end of a San Miguel summer (aka. an Indian Summer), so some nights it was like a sweatbox - but after that...chilly

Equipment in Summer: sleeping bag vs. Sleep Sheet

Just back from the camino. I carried a very light pack of about 6kg but could definitely have done with a light sleeping bag in some albergues. I found more often than not that blankets were not available. Sometimes the room stayed warm and a bag was unnecessary. Other times in well ventilated...

Equipment in Summer: sleeping bag vs. Sleep Sheet

Thanks Falcon... If temps are likely to be 20+ indoors at night I may just leave it at home and take my chances. I want to avoid buying lots of gear that i may never use again on the offchance i may need it, and i think you're right - my bag is a bit heavy. Thanks for the pointers Robert

My sleeping bag weighs 1.1kg. Would that be considered light enough?

Equipment in Summer: sleeping bag vs. Sleep Sheet

How about the liner vs. bag question for someone starting from SJPdP in one week (i.e. Mid Sept). Am I gonna get cold? What's the strategy in albergues that don't have blankets available. (I read somewhere that happens in some places). Many thanks for all opinions on this as its my one...

Pants or short - Camino Frances mid Sept

Separate rain pants... I know weather is unpredictable, but will they be necessary? Assuming a day of heavy rain to be a sporadic occurrence in Sept, I think/hope a pair of pants will suffice. I guess you can get waterproof 'zippy' pants, right?

Pants or short - Camino Frances mid Sept

Hello, I am debating whether I should bring pants of some kind with me or rely completely on shorts. I will be starting in SJPdP in mid-Sept (i.e. a week from now). Uncertain about whether it will be cold enough to warrant them, and if it rains, will I want them? Another question is will I be...
