I stayed at Hostal Alvarez which is in a terrific location, had wifi, a twin room with private shower and cost me €25 last October. On booking.com now it's €28 for the 22 July.
I have a pic of the room I stayed in on my blog here.
Buen Camino!

Although not May, I walked the Primitivo the beginning of October last year with my sleeping bag and I would definitely recommend taking one. (I can't really answer the question about blankets because I was never looking for one, but I can't recall moving any off the bunk for my sleeping bag)...
Sorry if this is irrelevant now... I walked the Primitivo in Oct 2014 and used a GPS so I have elevation profiles of this walk on my blog if anyone needs to see them. The link is here.
Buen Camino!

Hi Anemone del Camino,
When I walked the Camino Frances, the "high route" was closed due to the amount of snow, so I had to take the low route (which was beautiful), but alas, I can't compare because I haven't experienced that route... I'm also yet to walk the Norte, so I'm no use there either...
Hi AnnaG,
I walked and wrote a daily blog with pictures about the Portuguese (Jun/Jul) and Primitivo (Oct) this year. The pictures might give you a sense of the trail, as with Mydestinationgalicia's videos from the above post.

I agree with the others that if it's...
Lol! Check the thread Al, Angulero mentions a great story about a bear who watched a group of tourists use a ladder to climb up and look inside the cortin, then somehow copied the tourists and ended up stuck inside one! ;)

Hi Silvester,
When I was walking the Primitivo, Angulero (one of the forum members), posted a message about this structure (cortín) and said they were built to protect bee hives from bears. He told me to look out for one near Grandas de Salime and that's the one I saw and is in the slideshow...
Hi Everyone,
I walked the Camino Primitivo from Oviedo to Santiago de Compostela in October and it was an absolutely stunning walk with spectacular scenery. Challenging mountains, hills, lush green forests, heaps of mushrooms, quaint stone hamlets, the delicacies of Asturias and Galicia, the...
Hi Liz,
Cabrales cheese comes from Asturias, so you must try it in Oviedo, though trust me, a little goes a long way! Wash it down with some sidra ;)
I have to agree with Isabelle about Herminia's fried bread and apple jam... the apple jam was incredible! Casa Herminia, Campiello.
The best...
Thanks Sonnie,
Now I'm back, I've just updated both of the walks with elevation graphs from my gps too.
I keep reading blogs about the PCT (Pacific Crest Trail, from Mexico to Canada) and I think I've convinced myself that I want to do it... now to convince my husband to let me go for +/- 4...
Hi Aidan,
Hopefully the Camino Ingles... :)
(I walked out to Finisterra and Muxia then back to Santiago at the end of the camino frances last year and thought it was a lovely walk... But I'd prefer to walk somewhere new before repeating that one again).
I've finished! I came in yesterday to Santiago around 5:30pm, like a drowned rat!
The blog is up-to-date, but I'll add GPS info once back home.

Thank you everyone for your comments and support. I absolutely LOVED this camino, it was beautiful and I couldn't...
No, my husband would kill me if I ate mushrooms that someone I didn't know picked (unless in a restaurant!) :) ... The closest I got to the mushrooms in the forest and on the chopping board in the albergue, was with my camera ;)
I drank fountain water in most places unless there was a sign...
So, I really wanted to go to Sobrado but it was raining on Monday, I wasn't feeling 100% and knowing there was a lack of arrows, I decided to go the Primitivo way with more options for accommodation... I'm glad I did because 20km to San Roman da Retorta was tough for me... I don't think I would...
Thank you :)
I'm feeling a lot better now but it did involve a clinic, an ambulance, and a hospital stay, with a diagnosis of bad gastro. After 5 nights in Lugo I'm hoping to be able to walk again today but I'm not sure how far I'll get!
I would like to say the reason I'm staying in Lugo a 3rd night is because I want to see Buena Vista Social Club play as part of the San Froilan festival tonight but it has more to do with Imodium and needing to be in very close proximity of a toilet :(
I have no idea what it's from but it only...
Thanks Liz & Olivares, I got some new shoes, not the same style or size (it was a desperate panic buy!) so I'll know by the end of tomorrow if they're better or worse ;)
I'm thinking of taking the green arrow route over to Sobrado dos Monxes via Friol tomorrow but I haven't completely decided...
