You are right of course...but we are doing it anyway.....in this area no one works together. They have wanted the North Highland Way for 30 years, and we still have difficulties.
Friends of the North Highland Way now have cycling on the North Highland Way. Off road cycling that is. In Scotland we have core paths which are maintained by the local Council. They are not joined up and quite short in places. Our objective is to join them up and make the North Highland Way.
We have started to add those accommodation providers with green credentials to our web site, such as the Forss House Hotel. https://www.forsshousehotel.co.uk/ Not the usual bunkhouse, but a beautiful site. A stated, the Council does not have a list. The Long Distance Walkers Association also has...
We are now doing beach cleans on The North Highland Way, and on the east coast between Inverness and John O Groats, ie the Moray Firth Trail. This is another great trail to follow. We have also linked up with Orkney, who have a Pilgrims Trail, and with Northern Ireland where we source...
No. That is just another web site.. not approved by The Highland Council as mine is. I am reluctant to put my link as it may be construed as advertising and do not want to upset Ivar.
We have been on the resources page for a number of years. However, I do not want to adverise, just tell folk about the route. We are coming into winter now in the far north of Scotland. Not many tourists around now, and places closing for the winter. I would like to thank @C clearly for her...
Yes.. thank you for your feedback.. very kind. I just want someone to take over the Friends of the North Highland Way resource, create their own forum so we are not encroaching on Ivar and set up a similar thing with affiliate marketing etc. I am trying to retire... This would be for the whole...
I was looking for them to sponsor a forum for the North Highland Way / Scottish Coastal path project. If I do it myself, I am too well known - and anyway want to retire! Any takers? And get Vueling to sponsor them.
I love Ivar's web site, and am wondering which software he uses. I think he told me once, but I have forgotten. We are not only doing the North Highland Way, we are doing the whole coast of Scotland in the Route of the Spanish Armada.
We are now linked up with a local travel agent in Portadown who work closely with Camino Ways. Watch this space for accommodation! If you want an experience of the true wilderness in Scotland, look no further than the Mountain Bothies...Mountain Bothies
Great starting point Sandras...
This is the only place you would find it. The Highland Council does not provide accommodation listings. I worked there for 16 years. There is one Council for the whole of the Highlands. The West Highland Way and the Great Glen Way are both run by public services.
The web site for the North Highland Way has been subsumed into www.letsgoexploring.co.uk. There will be a Camino office in Portadown...I have the passports!
This site is run by Ivar at in Santiago de Compostela.
