    Accommodation in Lyon

Hi all. Can anyone recommend a good, central hotel/gite in Lyon? last year I was alone and stayed in an excellent airbnb but next time there will be a group of us so we will need something bigger. Thanks!

Favorite gites (private and municipal) Le Puy to SJPP???

On the other hand: great recent gites: Miramont sensacq. Wonderful hospitaliers, fantastic food (donativo) and great crew. Food at the gite boulangerie in arthez de bearn fantastic.

Favorite gites (private and municipal) Le Puy to SJPP???

Hi all. Sorry to be a downer but I just want to add a couple of gites you try to MISS!! The gite d'etapes communal in Arzacq, Pomps and la sauvelade are drear in the extreme and the food st each absolutely dire. The latter gite charged €20 for a dismal, unhealthy meal and no wine; I could have...

    Moissac to Condom

Thanks bill-great info. I don't want to skip anything but have to. I know what you mean about the 'boring ' stretches-I loved the meseta in Spain for the big skies and solitude too. Will hopefully be able to return and do this 'missing' section in the future.

    Moissac to Condom

Thanks-lovely pics kanga. How about condom onwards-I understand it's a bit flat and uninteresting, especially in the height of summer? And any idea about bus transport out of condom-the gare here couldn't tell me-?

    Moissac to Condom

Is the section from M to C pretty? I'm a bit short of days and was planning on taking the train from here-Moissac-to the Pays Basque but seems it might be better to skip the section from Condom. Any thoughts? I have found the route from conques to here less interesting, but that's because Le puy...

Cahors - St. Jean Pied du Port

It's Le soulie and I had my best evening on the Chemin here: warm, generous hosts, wonderful company and dinner al fresco.

Detour from Figeac to Rocamadour and back to Cahors.

Is this a good section to do and is it a 3x20 km -ish route? I'm considering hitch hiking back to cahors

Detour from Figeac to Rocamadour and back to Cahors.

I've just made it to Rocamador and the walk in is stunning; in fact, I would absolutely recommend coming this way. However, I would not recommend staying in the donativo coming in to grammar unless you are very religious; I stayed there last night and the 'hospitilero' made sarcastic comments...

    July clothes

And then we had a week of around 34 degs every day, so you definitely can't predict the weather here, and that's great!

Detour from Figeac to Rocamadour and back to Cahors.

It's my first day on the Rocamadour route (alone) and I can't recommend this chambre d'ote/gite more highly: Le Relais des Conques in Cardiallac (in miam miam). It's perfect after a half day exploring Figeac, as it's only a 10 km stage. A luxurious room with double bed, balcony and window...

    Le puy departures

Well, if you're a fast walker you might catch me! I'll probably be in conques by thurs or fri. Btw: I've only met 2other native English speakers so far- of course there's more somewhere! Enjoy!!!

    July clothes

Ah, well on the clothes subject again, which I started in Australia: I've just finished day 5 of this lovely route and I'm in aument aubrac and today was the first day it hasn't rained. Mon-fri this week was constantly rainy and hovered around 8-10 degrees during the day. It's been very cold at...

    Le puy departures

Hi again! Anyone starting out from Le puy on Tuesday 8/7/14?

    Train to Le puy

Hi all. I'm going to Le puy tomorrow from Lyon and have just found that it is not running this year from feb-august. Pretty disappointing as so any of you have raved about that train trip! Also there seem to be only two departures in the morning, unlike the two an hour many of you have said...

    July clothes

John, this thread is turning into something fun! I must say I'm a bit worried about my very minimal French, so it was good to read that you made a friend straight away. Yes, I think it is a case of reaching out to people in this situation.

Confused about accommodations on the Le Puy route.

I am a light sleeper as well and found that it worked for me on the camino Frances to stay in a private room (cheap in Spain) twice or even three times a week to catch up on sleep. Staying in dorms is fun and social though and strangely enough, you do get used to the snoring!

    Spending $$$ (Le Puy route)

Yes, I have similar concerns, as I'm on a budget as well. I'm a bit shocked at the prices now I'm starting to book (I'm heading off in two weeks); it's obviously not going to be anywhere near as cheap as the camino Frances.

    July clothes

Planning to start walking around the 7th or 8th July so you'll be a long way in front by then. Buen camino, or, I guess it must be bon chemin! (or is it 'bonne'?)
