There is no need to worry. Starting mid October many albergues do close for the winter and a well earned rest. However there are many that stay open.

Well, I have now booked our flights and accommodation in Paris pre-Camino, and we'll now be arriving SJPdP 21 September for a 22 September departure
Or maybe we'll take our time and depart 23rd...
I guess we'll see when we get there

That's what I thought too, after reading a number of posts on the forum suggesting that SJPdP was a lovely town, with a lot to see.
Also, we'll be training down from Paris via Bayonne, and arriving fairly late in SJPdP.
I'm sure that we could organise all we need (credentials, transport of non-camino gear to Santiago), but why rush

Maybe someone will start one for that period. I will be walking during the lead up to your dates and not able to maintain such a list. Perhaps there may be one started by someone else? Or alternatively the calendar on this site could be used?

I don't mind adding your dates to the end of this list if you would like me to do so. I am worried that it would not be a true reflection of forum members who have nominated their starting dates and places in that time period.

Thank you Nonami for this thread. I begin the Camino Frances in Roncesvalles on Friday, September 2! I walked this route in 2012, I walked from Porto to Santiago in 2013 and I walked from Le Puy to St. Jean Pied de Port in 2014.
I'm grateful and so excited to be returning!

Fairly normal to feel that way. There will be many liked minded people around to talk to if you wish at that time of year. There is, in my opinion, a reasonable amount of "we are all in it together"camaraderie that takes away that fear.

September 10 - Mimi (St Jeam)
 


September 2 - Burgos to Leon or Astorga, depending on how well I get on and how many rest days I need. I'm taking it slowly as I have a damaged knee. Sad that this means I'm unlikely to find a camino family to walk with, but trying to remember that this will mean that I will meet lots more people along the way.
