40-50km/day stages for Camino Madrid, Portugal, or Frances?

I did Leon to Santiago in 10 days about 2 years ago and am heading back this summer (Starting June 6) to try my hand at a full route - either the Camino Madrid, Portugal, or the Frances from Pamplona or Roncavalles. I have 16 days in which to do so. Has anyone done one of these routes averaging 40-50km a day? If so, could you please share your stages? Thanks!

Also, before anyone asks about the crazy distances, yes, they are comfortable for me, especially since I'm not very social and only stop to sleep/eat.

I remember a guy on this forum last year about this time who needed to be done in 21 or so days, but he also took 2 days off during the walk to completely rest, he did finish that quickly and posted about it but I cannot recall the thread. The first 12 normal people days, haha, is reasonably tougher than the walk from Leon on in; so take that into account when forecasting stages.

I hadn't even considered the Camino del Norte...now I have something else to look into. This might actually be better for me, as I'm using this trip as a meditative experience as well as training for an ultra race later in the summer. In other words, hills/mountains are a good thing.

Biking these distances are not particularly excessive?

I did the Frances in 16 days during October 2015 (the photos are at the beginning of this instagram feed if you are interested: https://www.instagram.com/vegoodrich/). It was what I felt good doing. It was my camino. I wasn't trying to 'race' or anything, I just walked. I'm a runner/mountain hiker/biker/swimmer and mom of 2 kids. My husband wanted me to go on a solo journey at my own pace and that is what happened when left to my feet and mind. I had more time if I wanted it. I don't think I walked too hard for me, I just walked ALL DAY

I met so many amazing people and had a wonderful journey. Every night I enjoyed talking with other pilgrims after dinner in the albergues. My first half of the day often was with another quick walker who would stop mid-day and my later day was quiet and good for thinking.

The gradients are not on the wild side anyhow .......BUT.....plus minus 50 km a day means that you get in latish and should therefore book in advance when possible.....for me out of season ...?...no problem.....in season..?...could bee....any comments on that??

I walked the Camino Frances in 20 days - after Roncesvalles I arrived at albergues about lunchtime - from Estella onwards I typically walked two Brierley stages each day

Yikes! 5.5 kph! With a tailwind and going downhill, without rocks, I can only manage 4.5 kph...and THAT is as I see my life unfold before me on the downhull runs...

But, to each his or her own...Camino Rule UNO!

I rather prefer the turtle pace of 3 - 4 kph on average. I plan my days accordingly, and let the chips falls where they may.

Tip: It helps to have a lodging reservation waiting for you.
