Accommodation Lezama/Larrabetzu

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
The spanish web site gronze lists accommodation in Larrabetsu and Lezama.
It shows an albergue in Larrabetsu and also in Lezama.I have stayed in the Lezama albergue which was fine. The gronze site also lists an hôtel and one other accommodation in Lezama .You should take a look at the gronze web site.

I stayed in the Larrabetzu albergue last year. Here is what I wrote:

Last night in the newly opened albergue in Larrabetzu. Run by the Bilbao Association, one of 5 they take care of. About 18 beds. The albergue is on the 2nd floor (3rd US) under the rafters. I imagine it will be very hot in summer. There are windows at ground level but not much breeze. Small kitchen area with dishes, microwave, and refrigerator, but only water source is in the bathroom. No place to wash clothes other than the bathroom. this is not at all meant as a complaint but just so you will have the info. It is a very lively town, still very much an ETA stronghold, I was told, though I'm not exactly sure what that means in the post-truce world.

I had a pleasant night there but do think it would be almost unbearably hot in high temperatures because there is no way to get a breeze.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
Don’t know what you’re looking for. In Lezama we stayed at Farmhouse Madarian. Very nice rooms, spacious and tranquil grounds, welcoming hostess. A casa rurale, though, not an albergue, and obviously a lot more expensive. Room for 2 with good breakfast was around 50 euros.

If you're not lookingfor albergues, there are two places in Lezama: Madarian and Matsa.
I had a booking with Madarian, through a well known online booking company (;)), and the hotel had no hesitation in cancelling my booking the night before we were due to arrive because they had a better offer from a corporate client. I called and asked them why they had cancelled a confirmed booking, and they simply said they took the better value option.
We're staying at Matsa, and apart from being just next to an industrial estate, is comfortable, clean and friendly.
