The northern Camino from Bilbao to Santander 2016
Hi we are four ladies planning to walk from Bilbao to Santander. We would hope to complete 20km max each day. Can you recommend a route and advise how easy it is to navigate as we are booking accommodation independently we have 8 days in total ( 6 days walking and one day either end in Bilbao and Santander. Any advise on a good book for that route with maps etc. Many thanks S.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
The only route that links those two points is the Norte, and you may struggle finding accomodations only 20 km.

Bilbao to Portugalete: 19 km inland, 10 via the river but oh such an ugly walk along the industrial zone following the subway route.
Portugalete to Pobena: 14 km
Portugalete to Castro Uriales: 13 km, no options between Portugalete and Castro.
Castro to liendo/Hazas: about 25km, with only other option at km 12 in Pontarron
If you opt for Pontarron then next stop could be Laredo 9km past Liendo.
Liendo to Noja : 20 km
Noja to Guemes: 14 km
Guemes to Santander : 11km

You will have to play around with distances, short and longer days in my opinion. The Eroski website can also help plan.

This is great many thanks we plan to have a look around Bilbao on our arrival and then get a metro to Portugalete and begin from there the next day. We will look at the options you have suggested.
Kind regards S.
