Hi everyone,

I am planning to walk the camino. But I have no Idea where to start. Is there any registration that I have to do in the beggining. I am planning to stat my journey from St. Jean-Pied-de-Port and my final destination is Cape Finisterre . This would be my first travel and I have little knowledge about traveling (bag packing). I hope to hear from you guys.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Welcome! Read some threads, and I think you will begin to find answers to all your questions. You do not have to register to walk, but you need a credential to stay in many albergues, so you probably will want to obtain one. You can get it at the Pilgrim Office in St. Jean Pied de Port. In Santiago the Pilgrim Office will check your credential to determine if you qualify for the compostela.

Buen camino.

Hi Verna, and welcome to the forum.
SJPP is a very tiny village and the Pilgrim Office is on the main street of the old part. You will have no problem finding it.

As others have said, this forum is a rich resource of information and opinions.
Do a search on any question you have and you're sure to find multiple and varied answers.

Buen Camino!

Hi Trafalgar,

As you can see by my pathetic attempt of a beard after 82 days walking from Wales to Santiago I don't shave. Its one of lives little luxuries I love. Besides if I was to return home tanned & clean shaven my mates would think I'd been on the Spanish beach, not the Camino.
Very good & generous offer Sweeny.
