Almost at Leon!

My son (19 years old, Australian and his four friends) are almost at Leon. They arrive tomorrow. Thanks to the fellow pilgrim who took a fantastic photo of the five of them at the halfway point sandstone sculptures!

He said the weather has gone from exceptionally hot out on the wheat fields to freezing early in the mornings and staying cold. Hardly any rain in the whole three weeks, just a bit of drizzle on the Pyrenees. They've only had to stay in a hotel once due to full albergues but they welcomed the real beds with sheets and the hotel was cheap enough anyway.

We keep in touch every day via Facebook messenger as every albergue has wifi and it's always good to hear the ping of his messages (even though they usually arrive at 1am :)

The poppies are all blooming and every single photo he sends takes my breath away.

Blessings to all of you
Kathy

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
See, Kathy? There's not a thing to worry about. And both of you are having a ball!
(And so are we, reading your reports. Thanks!)
[Edit PS...has he found that t-shirt on the line anywhere, by any chance? If not he'll probably come back with one from the Camino, and it will be the new favorite...]

Hi Kathy, glad all is going well for them. Lovely that you can enjoy his journey through the messages and photos - he's clearly a good lad!

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
I'll watch out for them. ...

I just left Leon this morning and at my pace they'll pass fairly soon!

That will make about 40 Aussies I have met so far...

Viranani - no his belongings haven't turned up but it doesn't matter - as you say there will be another to replace the missing shirt.
He sent the most extraordinary photos of the Leon Cathedral. It is so big he had to use the panorama setting on his phone/camera.
Robo - they're having a rest day in Leon so you may not see them - all the best with your Camino!

Thanks for your kind words everyone.
