Before Covid I walked as far as the cafe in Orbenille, had something to eat and continued on the road as it swung west and there on the right hand side was a little gap in the fence to the alternate route.

In 2022 some way back maybe 3 0r 3 Kilometers there was a sign pointing to the left saying alternate route, which I thought I had better take. However there was nowhere along the whole way to Porrino to get something to eat.

My question is this, Is the opening to the alternate route still there after the cafe in Orbenille?

I would really appreciate it if someone who has traveled through Orbenille this year would tell me.

We ( my grandaughter and I) will be starting from Tui on Tuesday 23 rd May.

I walked the complementary route into O Porriño this year. This branches off just before Orbenlle. But OSM shows a track looping back to the complementary route some 150m north of the village and about 300m north of were the complementary route is sign posted. There are several short roads going off the camino route leading in a westerly direction. One would need to be careful to find the correct one and to get back onto the complementary route to cross the river.

Thank you Doug, I realise that the turn off that is signposted must be nearer to the cafe than I had thought. I will go as far as the cafe and eat and if I cannot find the track looping back I can come back down to the sign and go that way again. Thank you very much indeed. Lydia

If you cannot find it back, walk the ancient route along the 11 km long industrial estate .

I did that last year, 2022. I didn't realise how unpleasant it was until I walked the complementary route earlier this year. I know this is where people live their working lives, but I think that having walked it once, that will be enough for me.
