Hi All, I’m currently in Fonfría, 12km (by road) before Triacastela. We’re being advised to walk the road route due to the snow on the Camino and (after hiking through the drift to get to O Cebreiro) I’m following that advice.
I see that the km difference between Sarria and Portomarín is 29km (road) and 22km (Camino). Just wondering if anyone ahead can tell me is the Camino’s currently clear?
Thank you! :)

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

Hi, I’m also interested to read any replies to this post. We’re heading back to continue our Camino from Sahagun on Wednesday 4th April and hoping to get all the way to Santiago this time. Previously we’ve been walking in the heat of July. I’m hoping that we’ve got the correct kit for keeping relatively warm and dry in April. What has the weather been like for you, SafariGirl? Is it busy, I read today that over a thousand pilgrims arrived daily on Wednesday and Thursday this week.
Buen Camino for your last few days.

Hi Dochim, The Camino has been pretty quiet for me. Started walking from Mansilla about 10 days ago. Have had 2 albergues completely to myself and shared 2 with only one other peregrina, although I’ve avoided the main staging points.
More people in Leon, Astorga, Ponferrada, O Cebreiro and since Holy Week but think the weather has deterred some. I’m expecting it to get busier from Sarria.
Weather has been a couple of days of beautiful sunshine but freezing and windy around Leon and snow, sleet and rain last week from Cruz de Ferro to Fonfría! The locals say it’s unusual for this time of year.
In Triacastela now (below the snowline) and expecting the Camino to be clear from here on.
Have a great walk and Buen Camino, I’m sure you’ll have a great time whatever you encounter!

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
In answer to my own question (for those coming after me) the Camino is currently clear/snow-free from Triacastela onwards.
Buen Camino :)

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
