Anyone walking September 2008?

Hi all - just sorting out my Camino Lite: Leon - Santiago and if at ALL possible... Finisterre. Would make it a hard slog (or possibly one day bussing part of the route to save time) but worth it.

Unconventionally i'm not going for the Compostella this time but the Fisteranna would be very nice. I realised last year the Credencial meant much more to me so that's what I'm walking for. I may not stop in Santiago at all (except to say hi to James of course :))

Anyway, got 15 days to walk and start walking from Leon on the 19th Sept so if you're going to be around - say hi and maybe we'll bump into each other en route :)

Can't miss me - 6'2", bright red rucksack and of course.. a forum badge on the pack.

Can feel that excitement starting to build now.....

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Hi Martin,
I will be a couple of days after Leon when you start. Maybe you are a fast walker and we will meet up somewhere along the road. :D

Hi Martin,
Perhaps you could ensure the Fistera section by not starting in Leon but a day-and-half beyond - perhaps Hospital de Orbigo? There are buses almost hourly between Leon and Astorga and they stop at Hospital de Orbigo. Will cut out that loooooong, dusty section next to the main road, and give you a better chance of getting to the end of the world!
Whatever you decide - enjoy!

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Cheers Sil - I might consider that. I'm trying to avoid the bus thing if possible but I appreciate it's better to take a more measured pace and actually enjoy the walk. I dont mind the bit out of Leon actually..but I appreciate it gets better! Hmm...food for thought...

And Agi - if I do take the bus i'm sure we'll meet at some point! I'm hoping to head for the lesser used (ish) alberques....I found the people I met the most interesting bit (apart from the stunning scenery of course!) so I'd like to focus on those a bit more this time.

Whatever I do, I cant wait to go. Sadly my training for it is getting curtailed by some horrible horrible weather. My training route over sand dunes isn't the best place to go in driving rain and wind...the coast is a tad exposed! But i'll get there... :)

THanks for your input folks much appreciated. #:)

some friends and me are planning to do the Sarria-Santiago leg of the route from September 12-13.

We are concerned about the weather and the steep trails, but very excited about going!
