Here in Santiago it is raining on and off since pretty much days - So, just pack your rain gear and start walking! Hope to see you here!

It's basically been raining for the last 8 weeks or so....it has to stop some time!Come on over and walk, and if it really gets to be too much you can evaluate then, or just sit out the days with the hardest rain.
I was in La Coruña yesterday on the Paseo Maritimo and was amazed that even with the rain - hard at times - it still seemed bright and "airy". The rain didn't seem to affect me there as much as it does in Santiago where everything feels more closed in. Hopefully in the Portuguese countryside there will be some big sky and it will feel the same way for you.
Buen Camino!!
That makes sense... it’s rained a lot in France recently too but it comes in waves... I guess (hope). It doesn’t rain continuously with some breakshopefully I’ll come and warm myself in pilgrim house when we finish.
Yes! Would be great to finally meet you!
I am in at that meet-up!

Finally, do bring a positive, sunny disposition. If enough people with positive karma show up, perhaps the sun will make an appearance too.
Hope this helps.
wow! just look at that view... oh... well you know they say the sun shines on the righteousIt's a really pleasant sunny day here in Lalín, 44km from the saint, so your positive thoughts seem to have helped me at least. Thank you.

I forget if it was Chesterton who wrote "the rain it raineth on the just and on the unjust fellow, but more upon the just because the unjust hath the just's umbrella"wow! just look at that view... oh... well you know they say the sun shines on the righteous
Lovely ☺.I forget if it was Chesterton who wrote "the rain it raineth on the just and on the unjust fellow, but more upon the just because the unjust hath the just's umbrella"

All that I could come up with not so long ago when the Galician rain (and hail) did not stop falling on us was: Pluie du matin n'arrête pas le pèlerin. I'm sure @LesBrass knows that already.
I have a flight booked for Porto on Saturday. I am due to start walking the central route on Sunday. The current 10-day forecast for this area is rain every day... some days light rain, some days sun with rain and some days just rain rain rain.
Is anyone walking now? In Porto/central route or Galicia? Is the weather really as bad as the forecast suggests?
I want to walk... I am soooo looking forward to this trip but I don't want to walk in the rain for 2 weeks
Wise words of wisdom appreciated
Well - if it makes it less painful it is also raining here in supposedly Sunny San Diego in California.I have a flight booked for Porto on Saturday. Poncho! Think about feet being wet! Try to walk early in the day. Finish by 2pm then have time to dry gear. Two pairs of very light trainers??I have a flight booked for Porto on Saturday. And this morning that someone was me, an hour or so from the albergue of A Laxe. It's not very pleasant, but once you get your gear on and just get on with it, it's not that bad - one stick down, one foot forward, repeat 30-40 thousand times until you get where you're going. Could have done without the hail squalls, but so it goes. I find music helps - for a really dark day like today, "la Forza del Destino", Verdi's darkest Spanish opera, seemed right. And just remember, rain means that someone somewhere will see a rainbow ;-)

Whatta ya mean, on the brighter side? I'd take snow any day.n the bright side... at least it is not SNOW!
Snap. My thoughts exactly. You can be wet, or wet and miserable.
Do not doubt the forecast. I walked the central last year it rained everyday. Sometimes sleet/freezing rain. But usually there are breaks in between and even still we had a great time. One night in Ponte de Lima high winds power lost and no internet for a few days. Make the best of it and you will have a great time just be prepared for the it. Still set off walking early. You get wet, finish by 3pm latest! Plenty of time to dry everything. Buen Camino!!I am here. Its been a mixed bag of weather and on the whole we've been lucky. This afternoon it's been very very wet!
Nonetheless I'm glad I'm here... Even in the rain

Thank goodness. We were born wet, but once clothes get involved, it's more complicated and potentially really unpleasant!(and alburgue had a dryer so all good)
100% agree about the kindness. Today for us was the worst rain so far. We're in Tui so a day behind you. Buen camino PilgrimI am currently in O porrinno and there is also a lot of rain.
I must say the people of Portugal and Spain are very generous and helpfull.
Good luck - Buen CaminoGuess what? I was a bit too warm todaythe sun came out, the paths were clear and I had a wonderful day. If the forecast is right I've got three days of sun for my walk in to Santiago

To be honest I'm an emotional wreck. I blame @t2andreo ... He planted the seed about walking for my father
We thought “Morocco will be a nice dry place to go to after walking through all that rain” and guess what.....it’s cold and raining! Aghhhhhhh
I asked a local today if the rain was unusual for this time of year and he said it always rains a lot in winter. Glad I’m not riding a camel across the Sahara in this weather, it would be way too bizarreIn Xauen (Morocco) it rains more or less the same as in Ourense (Galicia). 900 mm.
I walked for my closest friend in May 2012 who died far too early on my birthday in March of that year, I had so many plans on how I was going to honour him, they came to naught. I was in emotional turmoil for most of the walk. People walk for departed friends and family all the time on the Camino and get on with it and do all the things they set out to do, but sometimes those emotions can be too raw and they give your Camino a direction you didn't expect. To be honest I'm an emotional wreck. I blame @t2andreo ... He planted the seed about walking for my father
