Hello,
My husband and I will be walking the coastal route from Porto to Santiago. On Sunday we will be in Esposende. Does any one know if there is a church with regular Mass times?
Thank you!
Mary Ann

Just a. note.....I found that Mass in Portugal on Sunday was generally in the evening. You may find something earlier in the day, but it seemed that the Portuguese were not inclined to early Mass on the weekend.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
I hiked the coastal route from Porto to Santiago last fall. I was surprised and disappointed regarding how many churches / cathedrals had locked doors during the day. As an example, it is quite a steep climb up to the Cathedral in Tui. Upon arriving, all the doors were locked! Bob

I don’t remember making mass in Portugal In Spain we just went to mass when it was available no matter the day and called it good

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Good to know

We are fortunate in that we will be walking with a priest.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

My feelings as well. I still suffer “nun-guilt” from 50+ years ago. At that time, there was no such thing as Mass on Saturdays. You either went on Sunday or you earned a one-way ticket to hell with no chance of parole. So, if you can now go on Saturday for Sunday, why can’t you go on MONDAY for Sunday. Also, Holy Days were treated like Sundays; no Mass - train to hell. NOW, if the Holy Day falls on Saturday OR Monday, you don’t have to double up. Except for Christmas, where doubling up is required. This past Christmas was on Monday, and the priest orally spelled out the requirements and everyone’s head was spinning. The church bulletin had it set up like a math formula; if A, then B or C. I ended up going on Saturday night for Sunday, and Monday mid-day for Christmas. But I could have gone Sunday morning for Sunday, and Sunday night for Monday (Christmas). Fortunately, this will not happen again until 2027, when Christmas falls on Saturday, and going Saturday evening ain’t gonna count for Sunday like it usually does.

I think I made an error at the end. Saturday evening is really Sunday, so I’d have to go FRIDAY evening for Saturday (Christmas), or Saturday morning. I think? HELP!
