Was in Biarritz last week wanted to take train to SJPP to walk to Pamplona but found that the train from Bayonne schedule did not have a train at around 11.30 hrs. Have they dropped that train from the schedule or is my memory fading. .

Bayonne to SJPP is intermittent, based on demands. Most often, it seems, a bus is hired to fill in. Not sure of the rates now but a taxi with as many folks going the same way will get you there a lot faster. Splitting the fare 3 or 4 ways makes the cost reasonable. Just an option.

TER train service from Bayonne to Saint Jean Pied de Port is not based on demand but may be rescheduled due to work on the tracks or even workers strikes. If work is being done on the TER line your train may be replaced by a bus. If so the bus and bus ticket will be available at the train station.

Presently there are 5 trains per day at
06:41, 08:50, 14:35, 17:09, 18:35. The journey takes roughly 1 hour 5 min. See SNCF for more info.

There is no reserved seating on the TER local train from Bayonne to Saint Jean Pied de Port.

The Bayonne station is small with many lit screens showing the track for trains. Usually the TER waits for the passengers from the TGV train from Paris to board before leaving.
Ask any employee for help by showing your ticket.

Good luck and Bon voyage!

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Helpful information. Thank you! Planning on rail from Paris to Saint John Pied de Port - 11 August. Decided on 1-2 nights stayover - Paris after longish flights from Adelaide - South Australia. Also searching for 'modest' accommodation not too far from CDG airport and train station - Montparnasse, I believe.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

There's another option, which you have not asked about, but which I like to rave about....and that's walking La Voie de la Nive from Bayonne to Saint Jean. It's a beautiful gentle walk to help your limbs unwind after a long flight, before the more demanding climb. I've only walked it in the other direction, but would do it again either way in a heartbeat. Here is a useful thread if you're interested. Or this is all you need.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
