Hi
Small warning for you pilgrims- watch out from bedbugs in Samos... We slept in Val del Samos albergue.

St James' Way - Self-guided 4-7 day Walking Packages, Reading to Southampton, 110 kms
Have you cared for your pack and it's contents since....or the next place you stay will have them too. Pilgrims blame the Allbergue but it's the pilgrim that gives them the lift to the next. Please inform the Allbergue in a gentle not judgmental way. This will make the meeting of a harsh sounding allbergue owner understood. A pack on the bed can mean extra work for them....not to mention the news of there allergies having bedbugs travelling the Camino News wire. I imagine it has a huge impact for them.
Not meaning to sound judgmental of your info. Just to open ones eyes.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Hi
Have you informed the hospitaler@s? Buen Camino, SY

I have a similar problem - may have bedbugs from Villatuerta... Informed hospitalera, they seemed unsure. Oh dear. I'm unsure how to treat problem once ON Camino. Do I search out alburgue with a dryer and systematically put in my belongings this evening to help keep from spreading to others. Any advice most appreciated

I'm also not 100% sure that these are the bites I have but someone else in same alburgue thought they might have gotten bitten too.

Thanks

@Maggie :) this is what I did. First I bought myself some cheap new clothes. Then, after showering, washing my hair and putting on my new clothes I took everything to a "lavanderia autoservicia" (laundromat). All my stuff, including merino, silks, down sleeping bag, stuff sack containing paper credential, wallet, and passport, went into a large dryer for 20 minutes on high heat. No need to wash, in fact it is probably more effective if things are dry to start with.

118 degreesF (48C) for 20 minutes kills all bedbugs and their eggs.

I put my pack into a black plastic bag, sprayed with bed-bug effective (supposedly, the picture was on the can) insecticide, tied up the plastic bag and left it in the sun for three hours. I took the cover off my mobile phone, opened it up to expose the battery and inspected it carefully to make sure nothing was hiding inside.

When I got home, and just to be sure, I plonked my backpack with everything inside except my mobile phone, into my chest deep freeze, where I left it all for a month.

Heard there may be bed bugs at the Monastery. I stayed at the Albergue that overlooks the Monastery couple of weeks ago no sign of bed bugs then.

That kind of hearsay isn't really helpful, neither for pilgrims and surely not for albergues.
