Hello
On July 21st 2016 whilst participating in a cycling pilgrimage from St. Jean Pied de Port to Santiago, one of our students (17 year old Michael Cura) sadly passed away from an undiagnosed heart condition. Our pilgrimage ended there and then, just beyond the Cruz de Ferro near Manjarin, and our party flew home from Madrid the next day.
The 10 staff involved in that tragic pilgrimage intend completing the journey in honour of Michael, starting from Leon on July 21st, arriving in Santiago on July 24th.
We intend placing a small memorial plaque after a short service of remembrance along the Camino at the site of his passing and was wondering if we need to seek permission in order to do so.
We are also raising money for the Cardiomyopathy UK through being sponsored for the journey and would appreciate your support.
Muchas Gracias
Linley Jenkins

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Hello @Linley Jenkins and welcome to the forum, regrettably under such sad circumstances.

I urge you to make contact with the responsible authorities where you wish to set your memorial. Just as in the UK every bit of ground belongs to someone. I can't suggest quite whom that might be but the local Guardia Civil will know, as will Tomas at Manjarin.

Blessings upon your venture

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
