Booking albergues in advance in late June

Norte, June (2015)
I am starting the norte route on June 26 from Irun to Santiago. I am wondering if anyone has advice on whether I should book albergues/hostels in advance since it is a busy time (especially in San Sebastian) and also since many of the albergues de peregrinos don't open until the beginning of July. Any and all advice would help!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Last year we only booked pensions in Irun and San Sebastion in advance from 21st May.
Plenty of albergues open at that time along the Norte until Oviedo at least. We used the Cicerone guide.

It is helpful to have a good guidebook for Norte. I relied entirely on the Cicerone´s guidebook. It has the latest accommodation and a good descripton of the routes. Are you walking via the Primitivo? I walked in June, everything should be open.

I have already purchased the Cicerone's guidebook and will be taking it on my trip with me! I am starting in Irun on June 26, so my biggest concern is going to be in San Sebastian and the surrounding cities because it stated that some albergues don't open until July. Were the albergues in San Sebastian open in June?

All alberques should be open by June 1st. You will find hostels are common in this area as well and usually get booked in advance. Why not try to reserve now if you know your walking schedule. I stayed at this hostel:

Albergue in San Sebastian opens July 1st. I found that out on June 30th. Got luck because there was one bed left at the youth hostel. Would book the youth hostel if I were to do it again. Thereafter no problems at all the digs

Elevation map shows this is really steep! What’s the best way from downtown Hondarribia up there? Then wish me luck on the Purgatorio—I am a nervous wreck.
My group of six arrives in Irun on May 20 and we're starting our Camino on May 21. Since it's the beginning of the busy season, I'm wondering if we should order trekking poles from Amazon Espana...
