Booking RENFE Trains through Rumbo.es

Hi ,
my wife and are doing the section of the Camino Frances from Ponferrada to Santiago in late May
and we booked a train from Curtis to Ponferrada through Rumbo.es. We have a five character reference code for this journey instead of a ticket and I was wondering if the train station personnel at Curtis will recognise this when I show it to them . From my understanding Curtis is a small enough town so I am worried we this may not be sufficient . We are arriving at Santiago airport and I believe there is a train station there. Does anyone know if I can get the tickets with this reference code there before we get a taxi to Curtis ?

regards,
Philip

Have you tried contacting Rumbo to ask? I found these email addresses on their site:

Ayuda online 24 horas / 7 dĂas
Si tiene alguna consulta sobre su reserva de AVIÓN o TREN, puede contactar con nosotros las 24 horas del día, los 7 días de la semana, a través de las siguientes direcciones de mail: clientes@rumbo.es gestiondecobros@rumbo.es

By the way, they look like they provide quite a useful service so thanks for posting.

Without knowing this, the code you have might be the actual RENFE booking code talked about here:
¿ Para qué me sirve el código de compra o localizador?

Para imprimir los billetes en las máquinas auto check in o en las taquillas de las estaciones, y para solicitar cambios y reembolsos de una manera rápida y sencilla.
http://www.renfe.com/comprabilletes/faq_ES.html
If it is, you just type that code into the self service ticket machine at the station and it will print out your ticket.

But as I said, I have never booked via Rumbo so I am not sure...

Thank you both for that. I will check with rumbo to see if it is just the RENFE code.
BTW if you are booking through Rumbo they use Secure validation on credit cards. With Visa this is just a matter of setting up a username and password.

Best wishes,
Philip
