Breaking up a train journey from Leon to Bilbao!

Hello! My camino in September will end in Leon next time out, and then I will have to make my way back to Bilbao, a train ride of over 5 hours which I am not looking forward to! :? My question is, has anyone out there broken their train journey mid way and stayed in a nice spot?

5 hours on a train will go quickly. Get a bottle of wine and some food and have a picnic and enjoy the scenery. Unless there is somewhere you really want to see, it seems a bit silly to break up such a short trip.

I love the advice above! This has worked for me on several occasions. Also a great way to make a new friend by sharing wine and chocolate!
