Burgos - Rosa de Lima Station - where to from there ?

Hi All,

I will be arriving to Burgos - Rosa de Lima station around 3pm in the afternoon. Where do I go from there ? I was looking around for albergues there, but couldn't really figure out where I will have to go and if I can take a bus or anything to get to an albergue which is close to the Camino way, so I can start walking the next morning.

Rosa de Lima is right on the edge of town and a long way from the city centre. It is possible to join the Camino Frances some distance from there and walk in to the city centre. However, that would be several kilometers along busy roads and industrial suburbs which many people find unpleasant. The walk into Burgos from the eastern suburbs is often described as one of the least pleasant parts of the whole Camino! I would be tempted to take a bus instead to the city centre, spend a pleasant night there and begin walking next day from the old centre. Here is a page with information on buses from Rosa de Lima:

but couldn't find any, could you please advise mabe, how I can find it?

We tried walking into Burgos from the station. 7km not easy to find the way. A bad idea in my opinion, take the bus!
 
If you want to walk from FFCC to city center I think the best is to go directly out of the station and to connect with Via de Bayona which comes from NE. It's poorly marked but but it's in straight line so easy to find. You can see the track here:

Otherwise take the bus to Plaza de Espana and you will be 10 minutes away from Cathedral (https://www.google.si/maps/dir/Plaz...d9a0d!2m2!1d-3.7043855!2d42.3407929!3e2?hl=sl) or simply walk down to the river take right turn along it and you'll be soon at the Arco de Santa Maria where you should take right turn again and you'll be in front of the Cathedral. I think that's maybe not the shortest but the easiest way for first timer in Burgos.

Go to the cathedral plaza and look for the tourist info center (little alley south side of the plaza). They'll give you a map and tell you how to get to various albergues. The "friends of camino" municipal is quite nice and almost right behind the cathedral. Hostel Burgos is also nice, and has a dorrway into the bus station.
 
If you arriving around 3pm I would strongly consider booking your accommodation.
 
Thank you all for the great and helpful advise, I will take the bus to Plaza Espana and look for the albergue behind the cathedral. It said on their site that you can't book so I'm hoping for the best

2024 edition: The Brierley Camino Frances Guide
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

It's very large, but I suppose it's full on some days. They do have a sign "Solo peregrinos" but I don't know whether that's enforced. When I didn't have a credencial, I paid €16.50/night at Hostel Burgos next to the bus station (€32/night for private room). But there are plenty of other options in Burgos.
