Hi, I plan to fly into Paris from Canada, take the train to Irun and start the pilgrimage there. How and where do I take the train from Paris airport? Or is it more convenient to start from Bayonne? I speak some Spanish but not French and I do not want to get lost en route to Irun!

I completed the Camino Frances last October and thoroughly enjoyed the experience and all the helps that I gained from this forum. Thanks very much!

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
There is TGV station at airport CDG 2 with trains to Bordeaux.

There is more frequent service from Gare Montparnasse to Bordeaux. (there are 6 major train stations in Paris)

From Bordeaux some trains continue on to Irun. Usually a transfer is required. Some trains may be posted Pau Irun or Pau Hendaye and require another transfer at Dax.

Regional TER trains terminate in Hendaye 3km from Irun. TGV trains terminate in Irun.

See links for trains here. Its written for those getting off the train to Irun at Bayonne.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Hi Simon, I plan on the same route and I'm booked for early May 2014 ....

As an alternative route you could consider my itinerary :
Vancouver to Amsterdam (arrive next day), same day Amsterdam to Madrid. Overnight in Madrid.
Next day train or bus straight to Irun. Stay overnight in Irun and start Camino the next morning . . .
( this allows for two nights recovery from jetlag)
If successful and I make it to Santiago, one way flight from Santiago (Iberia Express) ($128 CAD) to Madrid for return flight to AMS and YVR . . .

Buen Camino !
