Camino Portuguese
I am planning my trip to start the Camino Portuguese in March of 2023 and will be flying from the US probably Los Angeles. Any suggestions on arrival airports such as Madrid or Lisbon? I assume the return airport would leave Santiago and go to either Madrid or Lisbon I am opting for a train to and from Santiago as connection and luggage issues {lost or extra charges} abound these days in the airline industry, they sent a dog to the middle east who was bound for the US
Thanks Gringobruce

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

If you are planning to start from Porto a round trip ticket to Porto would be best. It's easy to get the bus back to Porto from Santiago.

Thanks I was able to book a flight into Lisbon train to Porto on returning train to Madrid from Santiago and flight back to LA with air France all for $800 an adventure but not bad

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

You chose the best routing Gringobruce. My cousin told me train prices in Spain have almost doubled since my 2021 Camino Portugués. The train station in Madrid... You go through the station and after exiting the turnstile / gate there's a kiosk (ATM style) you use to purchase a ticket for the Metro from there to the airport. Note the last Metro runs about 1 am... My cousin found a nice albergue near the airport. I will have to ask him...

Note: in Portugal, it's all about Camino Fatima (blue waymarkers) primarily the reverse of the route to Santiago. They use much of the same trail until vering off towards the coast to Fatima. You'll have to look more intently to find the yellow arrows marking the way to Santiago.

Once you get to Tui, the number of Flecha Amarillo and albergues noticeably increase. I typically walked up to 30 km per day. Twice I walked 40 km. Lisbon to Santiago in 24 days.

You'll enjoy Porto to Santiago.
