Not visited here for a while! I walked the Camino de Santiago last year and to say it was a life changing experience is an understatement! Just before walking I gave up my full time job, and since the Camino I've been travelling and having adventures.
I was in South Africa for 3 months earlier this year and fell in love with it. I'm going back for 6-9 months as soon as I can to do some more travelling and do some voluntary work.
I will be volunteering at a school on the Wild Coast and am walking the Camino Fisterra to raise funds. Like everything in life, access to the volunteer programme costs money, £1,949 to be precise, for an 8-week placement. So... me thinks, as I'm going back to Spain to walk the Camino Fisterra in September (didn't get to do it last time) I get friends and family to sponsor me to raise money for the placement. Now the Camino Fisterra is not only something I'm doing for myself, but also in a roundabout way it will be benefitting underprivileged and deprived children on the Wild Coast in South Africa.
I'm really looking forward to going back on Camino - I missed it so much when I finished last year. But, as all of us who have been there and done it know, the Camino is always with us in one way or another.
