Hi, Helen,I walked the Camino Frances last year in 29 days so quite comfortable in 30 kms plus days. I am walking solo. I thought i might walk the Le puy route as I liked the first day from SJPP but am open to suggestions. I liked walking in the summer and didn't like it so much when the weather changed in September. Thanks for your help in advance. I have about 5 weeks available to walk.
Hi Kanga, where did you fly into to get to Le Puy? What route did you return by? I live in Melbourne. Thanks for your help. HelenThe Le Puy is beautiful. I loved it (so much I went back for seconds!).

Happy planning and Buen camino to both of you!
Hi . Thanks so much for your reply. Just wondered if you booked your train tickets on line before you left or did you wait until you arrived just in case the plane was late? Did you spend a couple of nights in Le Puy before starting the walk to get over jet Lag? Where did you stay in Le Puy?Hello,
We did Le Puy in september 2015, the weather was nice, we landed in Lyon early morning 7:30am took the shuttle train to Lyon and from there took the train to Le Puy the same day . Slept 2 nights in the Monastery before leaving we attended the mass into very nice Cathedrale where they give you souvenirs, stamp your credencial many Pilegrims are leaving on the same time.
Be prepared for a good 15 days of climing (sometime tough) and downhill trails. It's a very nice Camino my favorite ,in France in you could stay in what they call Maison D'Hôte ( Bed and Breakfast ) by law they have to supply beding sheets, towels and breakfast. If you sleep in refuge the law doesn't apply , for 4 to 5 Euros more you are better in Maison d'Hôte.
Took us 30 days to SJPP and fly back home via Bordeau France.
Enjoy
I booked the train before leaving very easy they have a web site or application. Our flight was at 7:30 am the train was at 9:30 am. Take note the French railway is currently on strike, and you need to take a shuttle train fron the airport to reach the train station at Lyon. I staid 2 nights at the monestary to get over the jet Lag.Hi . Thanks so much for your reply. Thanks again. It is exciting planning my next trip and am refreshing my basic French on line.

The price include breakfast you need to advice if you want sheets for a small extra and you can also take all the meals you want to.Hi Jeep,
Thanks for your reply. I haven't had a lot of time to research as yet but can you tell me the name of the monastery and do I need to book? Thanks Helen
Hi Kanga, Can I ask what brand and size backpack you took on this Camino? Did you take a sleeping bag andwhat rainwear did you take? Thanks HelenThe Le Puy is beautiful. I loved it (so much I went back for seconds!).
Thanks Kanga. What time of year did you go? Did you wear boots/ runners/Etc?Gosh @Helen Aussie my last Le Puy was in 2010, so I had to look at some photos to help me remember. I took an Aarn backpack, and a down sleeping bag and a poncho for rain gear. It was a simple poncho and did not cover my arms, so after experiencing freezing sleet/wind/snow I went shopping in Cahors and bought a very nice pale mauve Goretex jacket. Still in my cupboard and useful around town but these days on Camino I rely on my Altus raincoat.
Didn't you get stones in your sandals?@Helen Aussie I wore lightweight ASIC joggers. If I was walking it now I’d wear sandals but take waterproof breathable socks (Dexshell or Sealskinz) just in case there was cold rain. But that’s me.
The first time I walked it in September, the second in April/May.
August and early September (and some years late September!) are quite hot; no rain pants really needed, and even a rain coat can be too warm. A jacket (and pack cover) will suffice.Do I need rain pants plus rain coat Le puy route August/ September?
