Cea to Laxe bypassing Oseira

Has anyone bypassed Oseira to walk to Castron Dozin and A Laxe. I have walked the route to Oseira before and want to go the other way. Is it well marked? Thanks Sharon

I walked this route last year and it was well marked, I have also walked via Oseira. I went this way because it was so cold, wet and windy and stayed in Castro where it snowed but it was early March. Looking through my journal I have written after lots of nice villages upwards climb and views. If the weather had been better it would have been a lovely walk.

Hi, Sharon, I've walked both ways -- on my Camino de Levante I walked with a very anti-clerical Frenchman who absolutely would not consider sleeping in a monastery, and since that's the only game in town, we went to Castro Dozon.
Totally well marked and I'd say the pilgrim traffic is pretty evenly split between the two routes outside of Cea, at least that was my experience.

Ourense to Castro Dozon is a long but not hard day, 36 km. Cea to Castro Dozon is 15. I don't know if you're a romanesque fan, Sharon, but if you do the stage Cea to Castro Dozon, and if you're wondering what to do with yourself for the rest of the day, there is supposedly a beautiful romanesque church here about 4 km away. I had originally planned to break Ourense to Castro into two days and spend the second day finding this church, but I had met two French guys about four days out of Valencia and they walked longer distances, so I had to choose between them and the church! If you or anyone else has seen it, I'd love to know more. Buen camino, Laurie

We walked from Orense to Cea in one day, took a taxi to visit the monastery in the afternoon and then walked to Castro Dozon the second day. Beautiful area and worth spending 2 days. Private hostel in Cea was magnificent and well worth the extra dollars.

I walked Ourense to Cea (21.5km) and Cea to A Laxe (33.5km) back in 2007. Route was well waymarked bar a few diversions for Rail and Motorway works, although both are complete now.

Hi thanks very much for the responses. Laurie, I plan to walk from Ourense to Cea rest up in Cea then walk the next day through to A laxe bypassing Oseira. I love checking our the old churches on the way - aren't they magnificent.

What I remember hearing was that it was a casa rural, not a hostal, and that's what kinky's gronze link shows, so I think that's the place you want.

Thank you I managed to find a nice guest house (Casa Manoso) . I will be walking this part of the Camino with my 13 year old Son and I am pretty sure that a good meal and a nice sleep in a cosy place will help him to recover from his first 23km on the Camino.

Maybe you'll need that rest more than him. It's a bad ass uphil from Ourense
But well worth for a beautiful view in good weather!!!
