I am a little behind in my holiday preparation, having been wiped out by a four week cold/infection. So, though it will be a little late, I'm ordering some cheese as a present for my son who has lived in Asturias and walked the Camino in 2008. It's a bit pricey, but at $22 a pound makes a nice present. For me, this is the best Spanish blue -- not so pungent and strong as Cabrales (I know Cabrales has its many fans and I don't mean to insult). But this is much creamier and dreamier if I may say so.
So even here in the middle of industrial corn and soy fields, we can still get some pretty amazing products!
The website has some machego and some Idiazabal, another favorite of mine. Shipping is $10, for overnight refrigerated delivery. Not cheap, but also not outrageous at least relative to other sites' shipping fees.
Back to my belated Christmas shopping.....
