I will be starting my first Camino Frances from SJDdp on August 23rd. I am look to unplug from the daily grind through the Camino. There is one thing that I really think I am going to miss, it's my guitar......is it common for there to be a community guitar for pilgrims to use at some of the albergues along the way. Sure hoping so..........I'll be fine either way, but it sure would be nice to be able to strum and pick a bit while recharging the legs....

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
I always enjoy relaxing guitar played after a long walk, after dinner, outside, sunset, vino, a circle of walkers. I have seen a few places which do have one, but not many. Good on you for doing this for yourself and others.

The Refugio Guacelmo in Rabanal has one for use by anyone who would like to play. Anne

Grañon has one too. We were lucky to have a wonderful afternoon where someone played both the guitar and the piano.

San Nicholas had a house guitar last time I stayed there.
And I'm pretty sure Reb has one at Moratinos?

In Sarria, I stayed at an albergue named Don Alvaro where the hospitalero lit a large open fire, provided a variety of liqueurs (help yourself) and encouraged anyone who could to play on the house guitars. Everyone was invited to sing along. It was a really great night and all gratis. Watch out for the spirit he called gasoline though; think it might have been.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
I know there's one or two at Albergue A Reboleira in Fonfria. There were only about 8 of us there the night I was, had a delicious pilgrim meal all together and then one of the men took a guitar down and sang songs. And we all sang our national anthems as well A great night!

Damn, I actually never thought of that and also don't have such an experience but it would be so nice.I've been in some very nice albergues and nowhere I was to see a "communal guitar". Too bad...

But don't let my post get you down, just take notes on those (few?) albergues with guitar and I'm sure you're all have a very good time in the evenings

Buen Camino!

There is a guitar in Najera (as of last July, on loan from the friendly "tienda").
