Portuguese (2020) sigh ...
Hello Fellow Camino Enthusiasts!

Finally on our way ... my daughter (29 yo) & I (67 yo) are flying into Porto Sep 17th, and flying back to Toronto (from Porto) Sep 29. Wish we had more time!

Buying hiking poles at Decathlon is a must in Porto (as well as visiting the Livrario Lello Bookstore), so we'll be starting our CP Sep 18th from Tui.

Still working on the route - wanting to do some Coastal and Variante Espiritual (with boat ride from Vilanova de Arousa to Padron).

Have already booked our accommodations in Porto: Sep 17 Nice Way Porto Hostel, & Sep 28 Albergue de Peregrinos do Porto. Also booked Hotel Windsor in Santiago for Sep 27.

If anyone is starting their CP from Porto Sep 28th and needs poles, please let me know, as I'll be leaving mine at the Albergue.

Would love to hear thoughts on best albergues along the way (aside from Porto & Santiago), and best restaurants (I'm vegan). Buen camino!! Cheers, Darlene

Bom caminho Darlene!

The bolded parts don’t fit together. Once at Tui you are committed to the central route, Tui to Pontevedra and then the VE if you like (and I recommend it).

Entre Pedras and The Green House are my fave vegan restaurants in Santiago. @Wendy Werneth might have more suggestions from Tui onwards.

Thank you!

Wondering which part of Coastal is prettiest? Matosinhos to Valenca, or Aguarda to Redondela? Won't have time to do both.

So, I was thinking of Valenca to Tui, then bus/taxi to A Guarda and continue (Oia, Mougas. Baiona, Vigo, Ponteveda), then the VE.

Thoughts?

I'm a bit of a noted non-beach lover, so take my advice with that in mind!

Personally I would just walk from Valença on the central (or better yet, Ponte de Lima) and forget the coastal. I don't think any stretch of the coastal is that amazing, scenery-wise.

Both consist of a combination of rocky coastline and beaches, of which the Portuguese ones are the most built-up / heavily touristed.

Flying into Porto on September 19th. Starting the next day.

Senda Litoral --> Vila do Conde --> Arcos --> Variante Espiritual --> Boat (hopefully) to Padron --> Santiago de Compostela

Busing back to Porto on October 3rd for October 4th flight home.

New user here. Hello to you all. New to the forum but not to the Camino. I was told about this Forum whilst I walking the lovely scenic 'Camino Norte'. I'm planning walking another in June.
Hi, A couple years ago I flew into Geneva and took a train to Laussane to begin my Francigena. Next year I would like to fly into Geneva and walk the south side - France into Aigle, Switzerland...
