planning our first Camino
@Cbok82 , welcome to the forum. If you are planning your first, that suggests you are also thinking of a second (and a third and ...)
Options, as I see it, include:
1) start at Sarria or Tui or Ferrol or Muxia (via Fisterra) and stop at Santiago
2) start a lot further back (eg Le Puy-en-velay, or Sanint-Jean-pied-de-port or Lisbon or ...) and walk for a week, go home and come back next year and re-start where you stopped until you reach Santiago.
3) do both 1) and 2)
I did 3), as you can see below. Starting at Sarria gave me both a beautiful and practical experience. And gave me the confidence to start many years later at Le Puy and, despite an injury after five weeks, to come back a year later to complete my journey.
The five day journey in 2010 was a wake up call as to the stamina and fitness of both mind and body that I needed for the longer journey.
So, kia kaha (take care, be strong, get going)
