Time of past OR future Camino
May 2019
I turn 50 years old in March & have decided to do something significant to mark the occasion. I've never done anything remotely like this before, so I'm admittedly nervous. Biggest fears, foot blisters & my thighs rubbing together. I'm doing the Easy Walking trek on the French Way from Sarria. Will start May 12.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
There is an abundance of info on this website for people starting from Sarria. Do a search. In addition specific questions would help us better to Assist You!

It is likely to still be muddy so make sure you have waterproof footwear. To prevent blisters it is worth buying hiking socks which are double layered in the highest risk areas and are labelled as left and right. All lot of people also rub Vaseline on their feet each day to help prevent blisters. To prevent any chaffing you can also use Vaseline or baby/barrier cream.

Leggings help with chafing.

Fiftieth and sixtieth b’days seem to fuel many a camino.

Have the birthday of your life.

Buen camino.

Welcome! I did Sarria to Santiago in 2016 and wrote a short trip report about it. It rained everyday, but I still had a blast!
You have plenty of time to find a good pair of shoes and put miles on them. Getting your feet used to walking long distances will do a lot to prevent blisters on the route.

Thanks for the info! Curious if you've ever walked in mid-May? Wondering about weather.

You never know about the weather! Walked that part last year in mid-May without any rain, but others a day or two on either side of us got soaked.

I have walked late April and it was still very muddy admittedly after a very wet winter but I think it is wise to have waterproof footwear and at least a walking pole till mid-June.
Buen Camino.
