Fructose intolerance

Time of past OR future Camino
Starting my first camino from SJPP to Santiago on 1st May 2016!
Hello,
I was wondering if any people with fructose intolerance have done the Camino Frances? I have coeliac disease and fructose intolerance so any advice and tips would be greatly appreciated. I will be taking translation cards with me and cooking equipment for the times which I don't want to bother with eating out or there are no options, but after tips and advice or recommendations of places to try along the way. I will be starting my walk 2nd May 2016! Not long now!
Thank you

The food you buy in the grocery stores are very similar to foods elsewhere, but the ingredients listed are going to be in a different language. But if you are well versed in picking out the right foods at home, you will probably be able to tell what you can eat. I do not remember seeing much in the way of advertised gluten free foods or menus on the Camino. They have a great potato and egg dish called "tortilla" there, but it has potato in it. So you might be more limited in food choices, but you are probably used to that. Best of luck.

My best friend is celiac, so I do notice these things when I travel, since she & I travel together frequently. I was surprised to see many references in menus and posted in restaurants indicating they can handle celiac diners (in Galicia, anyway...I haven't traveled the rest of the Camino). If you have the translation cards, you should do just fine. My friend traveled around Spain and Portugal with those cards and had no problems about 8 years ago, and knowledge of celiac has only increased since then. There are food options in Spain that tend to be quite simple, which helps. That is probably too general of a statement to make, but I've eaten many meals of just Spanish tortilla (eggs, potatoes, olive oil, salt, pepper and sometimes onion) and a salad (no croutons) or roasted chicken (or grilled steak) with fried potatoes (potatoes, olive oil) and a salad. A basket of bread will almost always be presented, but you can ask them to take it away (so you aren't charged). I don't know the specifics of fructose intolerance, but if you have cards, that should help.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
