Getting From Fromista To Santander

Can anybody suggest the best way to get from Fromista to Santander?

I'll have 14-15 days for walking and hope to make it from St Jean to Fromista in this time. I'll fly home from Santander and am currently trying to find the best way the get to Santander.

I can't seem to find anyway of going directly from Fromista to Santander. There does seem to be a regular bus service between Burgos and Santander.

Is there a bus which I can take from Fromista back to Burgos or can someone suggest the best way to get back to Burgos?

Thanks!

Hi,

Imagine my surprise to see that there's a local train from Palencia to Santander with a stop in Fromista. Here's the RENFE map: http://www.renfe.com/docs/norte_MD.pdf

It's not likely to be a super fast journey with all those stops, but a pretty easy straight shot at least. I haven't yet figured out how to find the timetable for this train, but if I do, I'll post it. I'll bet someone like falcon can find it even if I can't, though.

A bit more information. I managed to find the schedules. If you go to the RENFE website and search for trains between Palencia and Santander, those regional trains do come up. If you click on the regional train listed, it will pull up a list of stops. And it looks like there are trains leaving Fromista at

10:50 (arrive 13:34)
15:49 (arrive 19:05)
17:19 (affive 22:16)

I can't imagine you would have any trouble showing up a half hour ahead of time and buying your ticket. Prices are under 14 euros for a one way ticket.

Hi Laurie,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I was looking on http://www.renfe.com/viajeros/index.html for details but for some reason Fromista is not listed as a station so I presumed that getting the train from there wasn't an option.

It looks like it will be pretty easy for me to get from Fromista to Santander, let's hope that getting to Fromista isn't too difficult.

:D

Hi,

I appreciate that Laurie has provided the train info. you need but for future reference...

When using the standard RENFE search only main stations appear in the DEPARTURE and DESTINATION drop down lists. For smaller stations use the FIND ALL STATIONS button

which will take you to an A-Z page to select your departure station (clicking on the relevant letter will take you to a list of corresponding stations).

Click the departure station and this will display a further A-Z list of destinations you can get to directly from your departure point.

Select the Destination Station and the timetable will appear. NOTE that there is a bit of a bug in that you may need to scroll back up the page to see the timetable

If no direct train exists then you will get a further option to select a train service with connections.
