Camino Francais SJPP to Santiago
Hello, I'm thinking of walking the Camino Frances in May. I was wondering if it's possible to have items (shoes, etc) posted to one of the places that I will pass through, such as a post office or albergue and if so how long will they hang on to deliveries. I will be sending the item from within the EU (Ireland), so no customs.

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
If you’re making any hotel bookings where you would like to collect your parcel., an idea would be to message your ‘booking establishment’ directly and ask if they could hold for you until your “ date of arrival “. I’m not sure how long correos will hold parcels but they used to do this , as @14c has linked for you.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
Please bear in mind that EU postal / parcel systems are not homogenized - run like a single entity. Each country still treats parcel shipments to other EU countries as international shipments. It is a veritable pipe organ.

My best advice is to wait until you arrive in Spain to ship your parcel from the first Correos (Spanish Post Office) you can. The Spanish Correos is inexpensive, reliable and fast. Staying within one national postal system, is definitely easier, and with less drama.

I have had luck over the years sending parcels to hotels along my route of march. Once I make a reservation, I send them an e-mail to ask if they will hold a parcel until my planned arrival. I have never been refused.

Then, from a Spanish post office, send the parcel to you, care of the hotel. Add a note at the bottom that says: "Espere hasta la llegada el 10 de mayo de 2024." (Change the date as appropriate.)

In the past, I have used this method to ship nutritional supplements ad clothing ahead.

You can also use this method to ship things ahead to Casa Ivar at Santiago, to be held until your arrival there. I have also used this method to ship to the hotel I reserved at Santiago. That works too.

Hope this helps.

If you can bring the items with you to SJPdP or anywhere westwards on the Francés, Jacotrans will do this as well as Correos. Correos within Spain only, Jacotrans on the Francés from SJPdP westwards. See the section 'Envio directo o a larga distancia' [direct shipment or long distance]. Almost certainly Jacotrans would not charge the €6 per stage rate for a small package over a long distance. Jacotrans collects and delivers 7 days a week.
