Hello. Via de la Plata in Sept.?

Hi
I’ve recently posted to the Via de la Plata board, but thought I’d introduce myself here too. I’m aiming to set out from Seville on the VdlP in just a few short weeks. Feeling mightily unprepared but can’t wait! Despite the relatively sudden realisation that, luckily, I have the time and resources to spend 6 weeks walking, it is a long standing wish come true. I’ve been itching to walk this route ever since I first heard about it whilst walking El Camino Frances. That was 11 years ago….and finally I have the opportunity to go.

All this got me reminiscing about the last walk and so I dug out the old photos. I’ve scanned a few prints into the PC (this was before digital cameras were ubiquitous) and put on line if anyone wants to see what El Camino Frances looked like in 1998:

( I don’t know what I was thinking with the ‘yokel’ outfit – must have been all the rage on the Camino in ’98! )

Anyway, I’m planning to leave Seville first week in September. Is anyone else going to be on the road then?
Buen Camino to all

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Hi Rich,
We may be there. We're trying to decide now between the VDLP and the Norte. It may boil down to (literally) the weather.

If we ARE on the Plata, we'll start out a week ahead of you, but you are sure to pass us up as we are turtles, not hares.

Hope to see you along the Way!
Buen Camino!

Hi Annie
You're leaving the decision - Norte or VDLP - to close to departure :) Hopefully see you on VDLP - and don't be so sure about being passed - I intend to be a tortoise not a hare!
Concerning weather, what is the 'decider' - avoiding heat in the south rather than rain in the north I would guess?

We're torn between the two routes.

I think the deciding factor will be the weather on August 20.
If it is 105 in Sevilla.. we'll go the Norte.
If it is only in the 90's... we'll go to Seville and begin there.

We have a tent, so we can walk cool mornings and hang out in the shade until evenings.

Hope to see you.
Do you have your forum badge so we recognize you?
