Well, last year we did Portuguese camino from Porto to Santiago, year before SJPDP to Leon and year before Leon to Santiago.

We said that was enough walking for the time being, but the bug gets you. We are now thinking of doing Primitivo, or at least part of it.

We have at most 2 weeks, so any suggestions for starting and ending. We are not bothered about finishing in Santiago though. Wondered about starting in Oviedo and maybe crossing to Norte.

Also any suggestions for best month as we have always walked in either July or August and my feet don't like it, yet I love the warmth. Possibly June?

Not sure how you would cross from the Primitivo to the Norte - the common route is from the Norte at Sebrayo down to Oviedo and on to the Primitivo. Two weeks gives you plenty of time to walk from Oviedo to Lugo with some time to spare to explore each of those lovely cities, the prehistoric joys of Castro and even the 20C history at Salime and the ghost villages built to house the workers who built the dam. Some histories suggest 300 of the 3000 odd died in the construction process, yet the intrepid can still find and identify the schools and bakeries and bars that were built along with the housing. The views from the terraza of Hotel Las Grandas are worth the price of the indifferent lunch.

July and August are way to hot for me, June should be good, the tail end of spring in the mountains but (mostly) dry.

Hi Shauna,
Depending on your preferred distances, you could probably walk from Oviedo to Santiago in around 14 days. The walk from Oviedo to Lugo (about 6 days) is particularly special, although it's tough at times.

As regards crossing to the Norte - you can do so by following the Camino Verde from Lugo to Sobrado dos Monxes. This thread has some helpful information. If you don't fancy this 2-day option, you could just take a bus from Lugo to Baamonde and walk some or all of the final 100kms of the Norte.

Re. the weather - we walked in late September/early October and it was perfect. Warm enough, but never too hot.
